GOOD FRIDAY'S traditionally sees a big football card in England although I'm not sure why.
For punters it complicates matters having games spread over Friday, Saturday and Sunday and followed by a busy
There are 10 games in the Championship on Friday and I've already flagged up Derby at home to Sunderland and Cardiff at home to Burton as good things. Nathan posted a good piece on Derby and while he accepts they need to win he isn't overly confident.
Nathan also expects Fulham to pip Cardiff to automatic promotion and they are 5-4 at McBookie to win at Norwich. Quite fancy Fulham and both to score at 3-1 with bet365.
In League Plymouth let us down last time out but should return to winning ways at home to Southend. They are 8-5 at bet365 so on a treble I'm taking them not to lose and adding title challengers Wigan at home to Oldham.
Wigan have won three out of four and fully focused on the league after being distracted by their run to the FA Cup semi-finals.
Complete the treble with Bristol Rovers at home to Bury. Rovers are fairly inconsistent but have a slim chance of making the play-offs and in recent weeks have given Plymouth, Peterborough and Scunthorpe good games. Bury have lost three in a row and are all but down so 11-10 on the home is tempting.
Well done to all the winners last night – my only bet was on Blackburn for the start of a treble that was also features Cardiff and Derby.

Just slightly more confident of a Derby win than yesterday. Returns for Ledley and Thorne + Keogh, Lawrence, Vydra and Nugent. Kasey Palmer is a doubt and Huddlestone has to sit this one out.
Vydra according to stats has got the opening goal in 9 of Derby’s games this season. The historical stats between Derby and Sunderland are heavily in favour of Sunderland but i’m not going to read too much into that. If Derby win today ( remember its a 19:45pm kickoff ). Sunderland will stay bottom . Statistically the team that’s last in the championship at the end of March is going to end up last come May, with 9 out of 10 of the last seasons pointing to that.
Derby have not beaten Sunderland in 11 attempts, 5 draws and 6 losses, but its the first time since 2008 that Sunderland have visited Pride park. That game ended 0-0.
Derby have won 10 of their past 11 Championship matches against sides starting the day bottom of the division, drawing the other.
Matej Vydra has scored the opening goal in nine Championship matches this season, more than any other player – opponents Sunderland have only done so in 11 games this season.
Sunderland have conceded the first goal in 26 Championship matches this season, winning none (D6 L20) – they last won a league match when conceding first in November 2016 away at Bournemouth.
With all the returning players – essentially the big hitters in the rams side, its hard to see past a Derby win, especially given that Sunderland have been so awful.
I’m trying to be realistic here though. We have Preston away in a few days. This Sunderland match is probably the easiest of all of our games. I know a team that’s fighting for its life can suddenly upset the form books but I just think Sunderland gave up the fight months ago.

I’m surprised Johnson has got the start ahead of Ledley, but not surprised that Jerome is ahead of Nugent in the striker role.
Its quite a strong line-up but with it being so tight in and around the top 6/chasing pack, a Derby win is an absolute must. Remember we’ve had an extra week to prepare for this because of the cancelled game. If we need players to really contribute today, then its the usual suspects of Vydra/Jerome/Lawrence and we need Thorne to have a good game.
Still 4/7 I think for a Derby win with betfair and I’ve also taken a look at our fixtures after this. We have Preston away and then Bolton. Preston got wellied today and the we’ve Bolton who are also struggling. 3 straight wins could/should get our season back on track.
If you have faith in the rams, then keep it simple, no h/c bets, no ht/ft result, no clean sheets. My gut is telling me, we’re going to put at least 2 past them but I have my bet on as the straight win. I’ve also noticed that recently, we’ve lost the possession dominance that we should be enjoying. I think this is down to the lack of quality from the holding midfielder duo. They’ve got to be on the ball tonight.
