IT'S a big day on Saturday and not one but two titles can be won.
No prizes for guessing the first as Man City to try to clinch the Premier League against neighbours Man United.
This is the second huge derby of the day with Everton v Liverpool first up at lunchtime and as I said on my preview don't have a bet until you see the Liverpool and Man City line-ups ahead of their Champions League second-leg tie on Tuesday.
The other title up for grabs is the Scottish Championship and St Mirren will take the honours if they win at relegated and still winless Brechin and Livingston fail to beat Morton.
I've posted Scottish and English previews where most of my selections are reasoned. Last Saturday was profitable so let's hope it's another good day.

What a result it was for Ross County midweek as they hammered fellow relegation candidates Partick Thistle.
It was a massive result and they’ll start to believe they can get out of this mess. They welcome a Hibs side that have gone about their business quietly and are right in the mix to challange Rangers and Aberdeen for second. They are flying at that moment having collected 20 points from the last 24 available. They have in my opinion one of the most in form players in Swiss striker Kamberi, seen him play a few times and he’s terrific, wouldn’t be surprised to see him net today. County cant rest on their laurels and need to get something from every game they play. Think this will be an open game with both sides getting on the score sheet but Hibs edging it.

Derby/Bolton team news and thoughts:
After Sunderland hammered the rams with a 1-4 scoreline, big changes needed to be made before we travelled away to a much improved Preston side. Preston have been in the mix for most of the season for a playoff spot and with Derby only registering 2 league wins in 2018, there seemed little light at the end of the tunnel.
Rowett pulled no punches and whilst he’s been very quick to shoulder much of the blame, he put the humiliating result against Sunderland squarely at the shoulders of the players.
Keogh ( captain ) was dropped along with 4 others and although Preston pretty much dominated that game with I think 9 shots on target and a missed penalty, Derby had 1 chance from a direct free kick and Tom Lawrence buried it. We hung on for the 3 points and it was the result rather than the performance that was more important,.
We have far too many players in the squad on very good money that have 0 incentive to fight for their paycheck, not enough desire and just not hungry. Mel Morris has already said he’s trimming the wage bill come May, so we’re no longer going to be throwing cash at overpriced players.

I think Nugent is in the squad because he brings an extra level out of Vydra even though Nugents tally is nowhere near where it needs to be. Ledley and Huddlestone in holding midfield is more stability and we have missed Ledley.
Pearce has come in for Keogh and Baird has switched to left back. Wisdom comes in on right back in place of Baird.
A few things worry me against this game:
Derby tend to play better against better opposition and with Bolton by no means safe, much like Sunderland, if we let complacency kick in and think we only have to turn up to get the points, we’ll get beaten
Baird isn’t a nailed on left back, he’s a right or centre back. The state of Forsyth’s football and Ollson injured, Baird is a square peg in a round hole. If Bolton are smart, if they have a tricky winger that can run at Baird, he could be turned inside out for 90 minutes which will be a problem.
The lack of shots at goal for the rams this past 2 matches is a worry, Vydra is on 19 goals. If he scores, he’ll be the first championship player to hit 20 in a season.
To give you an idea of how bad our season has been since November, it took us until our 38th game to register a league double on a side this term. Wolves probably cannot be caught and with Villa losing today, I think Vydra will get that 20th goal today and I fully expect that the big winner in the chasing pack today will be Fulham !!!
I’ve not looked at the prices because i’m keeping my money in my pocket, but here are my picks:
Derby definitely not nailed on a for a win but I think the 5 changes made last week with Ledley and Vydra back in the side, we should get a win today.
Vydra ATGS has to be in with a shout, he’s still chasing down the golden boot.

Goals from Pearce, Vydra and Lawrence saw a better performance – confidence wise for the rams with a 3 nil at home to Bolton. What a difference a week makes. 2 wins, 4 goals and 2 clean sheets. Just what the rams need to steady the ship a little.
Vydra got his 20th goal of the season bringing my 2nd tip up and Fulham got a late goal for a clean sweep.
Time to bite my nails now, we’re away to Wolves midweek and with Wolves within touching distance of promotion guaranteed/probable champions, this is going to be a tough tough game for Derby. Maybe we might delay their party a bit.
It seems that Joe Ledley is key to Derby getting results. Sadly, Nugent couldn’t hit a bulls ass with a banjo, time for a change up front. Jerome isn’t that much better, but I really can’t see Nugent sitting the Molyneux trip out, his pairing with Vydra on the pitch gives us a sniff of something up front.

One for the boxing tonight:
Erislandy Lara v Jarrett Hurd
Super Welterweight world title fight in Vegas. Like most Cubans Lara is a technician rather than a brawler, however his style, whilst effective, is often painful to watch. Every big fight he’s been in has ended up being a bore-fest as he attempts to nullify opponents rather than use any offensive abilities he possesses.
Hurd is pretty much the opposite to Lara. A bit of a physical beast, who comes forward, a bit wild, but can punch. Hasn’t had much in the way of decent opposition in his career so far, bar Austin Trout last time out, but is on an impressive stoppage run.
So a pretty intriguing contest. As a spectacle it would be far better if Hurd manages to hunt down and stop Lara. I don’t think he does though. Lara’s faced a better version of Hurd previously in Canelo, and he arguably won that. He will do what he does, nullify, frustrate and eventually outpoint Hurd.

Nice review @ste_smith this was exactly what I was thinking. Hurd has to force the fight or Lara will just turn it into a boxing match. Being a southpaw also helps Lara’s cause. Lara was floored a couple of times by Angulo so he can be got at but as you say he’ll likely frustrate him with all the big fight experience he has had.
Im not sure what to make of James Degale/Truax to be honest. Obviously Chunky should win and hes certainly talking a good game but he does possess a few of those bad habbits such as taking breathers against the ropes and in the first fight he wasn’t using his jab as much. A fully on form Degale is capable of icing Truax in the first couple just like Dirrel did but we’ll find out today what level hei s at after the shoulder surgery, healing etc. Good luck.
Yes mate. I think it comes down to whether Hurd really a physical beast able to walk through people at the top of division. I think he’s just too wild and will get found out by genuine boxing ability. We’ll see.
Going absolutely nowhere near the DeGale fight betting wise. Obviously DeGale is/was a better boxer by a country mile but he’s had a lot of really brutal fights to go with his numerous injury problems. Was the last fight a blip or is he finished at the top level. I’ve no idea really, hence why i’m not touching it.

Strange old day. Should have gone with the BTTS as said, but thought the Swans would be dangerous before the second half.
Onto the US and I’m looking for goals in Chicago. The Fire are know for their scoring and conceding. All three of their games this season have seen BTTS & Over 2.5 land (with over 3.5 and 6.5 also coming in). The Crew have changed a lot of the last couple of seasons but look to have found a decent squad being led by Zardes. They were looking scary until their loss to the Whitecaps but can still score goals. Expect a thriller (fingers crossed).
