IT'S amazing how many times a moneyback fivefold is beaten by one but I suppose that's why we take the insurance.

In my case it was Wolves who were held at home to Hull while Fulham, Hibs and Dundee United won. My other pick was Montrose whose game was off so I advised voiding the first bet and taking Bayern or Aston Villa – so hopefully everyone go their stake back.

Juve not scoring beat the Top Treble and Robert Lewandowski failing to net downed the anytime scorer double.

I wish I'd taken overs in Turin but btts was the better price and that's done thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's brilliance.

Well done to Greg and Desmond who showed it pays to keep it simple. Greg's double was Hibs and Dundee United while Desmond's 2+ double was Dundee United and Wolves.

Well done to all the winners and for those who avoided Wolves there would have been plenty.

On Wednesday there are two more Champions League ties including the big one – Liverpool v Man City – and Barcelona v Roma. Goals are expected but priced short at Anfield while on the evidence of Turin you have to fancy Barca to win well. I've posted a separate preview on the games.

There's not much else to look at but I'm putting up a Super Single of Celtic -2AH at home to Dundee as Brendan Rodgers's side move within touching distance of the title.

Celtic have beaten the Dens men three times this season – all to nil – so that's an option. They've won their last two home games 3-0 so there's every chance of the bet at least being voided.

Elsewhere there are four matches in Serie A including Milan v Inter while Rennes entertain Monaco in France.

My only other bet is an over 2.5 goals treble including Liverpool v Man City which could 1-1 or 3-3 – hopefully it's the latter and we get an action-packed. If the other two selections go over we can cover unders at Anfield.

The treble starts with Benevento v Verona in Serie A. Benevento are all but down and trail second-bottom Verona by 12 points but the visitors can still be safe and will see this a must-win.

However, Benevento are improving and followed victory over Crotone with three one-goal defeats before being hammered 6-2 at Lazio last time out. Eight of their last nine at home have gone over 2.5 goals as have three of Verona's previous four.

Next up it's Rennes v Monaco. Rennes are in good form having won four and drawn two of their last six. Monaco want to clinch second spot and an automatic CL place but this will be tricky. Should be goals though and Monaco's last six have gone over 2.5.

1pt Over 2.5 Goals Treble

  • Rennes v Monaco (5.30pm)

Going by his posts the last few days, @maccathered is very confident, we all know how it turned out last time he was this confident.

I hope Liverpool win for your 31/1 bet and i admire your passion but please do not underestimate Man City.

Hoping for a close entertaining game that rolls on to next week for my trip to the etihad.

    • maccathered 3 years ago

      Don’t underestimate Liverpool you mean.

    • garry 3 years ago

Liverpool can win tomorrow but can they stop city over the 2 legs?
Joel matip, Joe Gomez, Adam Lallana, Clyne are all injured and Emre Can also a doubt.
City have more players available on the bench and I think over the 2 legs Man city will go through. It will be close though

    • maccathered 3 years ago

Clyne has been out most of the season and ditto Lallana,if liverpool can in by 3 or 4 then that will see us through.

    • elvis parsley 3 years ago

      Liverpool 2 man city 1 1st leg.
      Man city 2 Liverpool 2 2nd leg
      Or something similar.
Most think city as champions should win and this underdog tag plays into Liverpool’s hands.
Whatever the score tonight I expect Liverpool are capable of scoring 2 away so a score draw or even a narrow defeat today won’t be the end of the world.

As a man utd fan that was difficult to write, but hopefully the winner will lose in the semi final, lol

    • maccathered 3 years ago

The winner of this tie wins the champions league.

    • Mr Fixit 3 years ago

That’s you been biased again. Real, Barca and Bayern won’t fear Man City but it will be a good semi-final line-up.

    • maccathered 3 years ago

Real, bayern and barca will fear playing Liverpool, maybe not so much Madrid but Barcelona or Bayern will get mauled by Liverpool and thats a fact wether you like to believe it or not.

    • Mr Fixit 3 years ago

They’ll respect Liverpool and what they’ve done and the Anfield crowd but none of these teams fear anyone.
Also the second leg might be at Anfield so they’ll probably be going there with a lead.

    • bluemooner1894 3 years ago

Wolves must have saved the bookies a doing tonight –

    All eyes on Anfield tomorrow

    • Mr Fixit 3 years ago

I’m sure they did – the only result that was a surprise really.

    • richb20806 3 years ago

Haha you should have tried being there….

Not the best performance last night and shows how much we miss Docherty as RWB and Neves in the midfield.

Whilst we have some cover for Neves we struggle with Doc and last night elected to play a few out of position until the last 20ish minutes when we bought one of the kids on for his league debut (RWB who looked decent and scored)

If we do go up I think we will strengthen considerably.

Friday night sees us away at Cardiff. Best advice I’ll give is avaid betting on it.

The only market I’ll be looking at is the cards. If the card lines are low enough then it’s well worth it. We’re going to see a minimum 4/5 cards and wouldn’t bet against a red.

    • Mr Fixit 3 years ago

Yeah looks like a game not to touch.
All my bets Monday and Tuesday were beaten by Championship sides – shows you how tough that league is to call.

    • elvis parsley 3 years ago

A draw will be acceptable to both sides and as a neutral it will be a good watch.
The best footballing side v the best team side in the league.
      A clash of styles.
      1-1 draw.

    • foundmyfunk 3 years ago

Grujic to steal the show and the points. He looks a real possibility in the Liverpool midfield next season. Huge talent.

  6. fraser51 3 years ago

Toronto play in the semi finals of champions league at 1am, another tough game against Club America but this is there time to win the competition. They will need to take a positive result to Mexico, i can see both scoring with o2.5 goals, priced up at generous 17/10. Double it up with Liverpool v Man City for 4/1

    • oz777 3 years ago

Getting a bit tasty this game.
I wish bet365 had an inplay cards market for it. ?

    • kyle b 3 years ago

Good shout with Toronto ? Does the away goal rule apply to these games in the quarter finals?

    • fraser51 3 years ago

Never managed to see the game Oz but what a result for Toronto, two goal lead and if they score over in Mexico i can see them getting to the final. It will be tough as the game will be played at a high altitude.

      Away goals do count Kyle

Come on the goals at Anfield tonight, lovely 4/1 price for the double

One from the AFC Champions League this morning with Melbourne Victory heading to Korea (not North) and I think we’ll see goals here. Both the Victories two away games have seen both score and over 2.5 goals, but its Melbournes goal time that I’m interested in. 62:00 minutes is generous considering the amount of chances they had against a much tougher Shanghai side in China, and they are tied with todays opposition (currently 3rd in the group) so a win could be huge and they’ll hope Shanghai rest starters in the final group game if they win today.

End to end stuff between Toronto and Club America, with the home side 2-1 up at half-time.
Both sides are giving their all to get a result, and with heavy rain playing its part, I’m having a couple of quid on over 4.5 mgls @5/4.
Only concern is that I can see a red card in the second half, so hope it comes after the goals.
Wish I could get a bet on that too…

    • oz777 3 years ago

With the 4th goal arriving in the 58th minute, both teams had 32 minutes plus injury time to get a 5th.

Thinking back to the first league game. Liverpool missed two sitters and then City scored. Mane off for going for the ball when one on one and they got battered. Maybe it’ll be ‘ref justic’ and it goes the other way around. Due a bit of luck from refs recently I think.

    • davisam 3 years ago

Liverpool actually started the game really well at the Etihad, even after they went 1-0 down. Salah had Otamendi on toast before the red card. Fell apart 2nd half and Liverpool have that in them under Klopp but they always start fast at Anfield, especially in the big games – 1-0 up on 3 mins v Spurs, 1-0 up on 9 mins v Man City, 1-0 up on 17 mins v Arsenal. I fancy them to win at 2/1, as I did in the league game at Anfield but I also fancied them at Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago and at home to Spurs when they let me down. The crowd have a huge part to play though and I think that’ll give Liverpool the edge in this one.

      3-1 Liverpool Correct Score
      3-2 Liverpool Correct Score
      Firminio Scorecast with both above.

    • oz777 3 years ago

Still the most corrupt league in world football.
Had a few winners from it over the years, so not complaining.
When you look at the amount of points between top and bottom, the amount of teams who win to nil at home, then get beat to nil in away games, it’s hard not to draw your own conclusions.

Not as you think…. EPL actually started like Nigeria League. Better days are ahead for Nigeria, when a player here won’t be dreaming of leaving Nigeria top league to go and play in lower division league in Nigeria. Couple of Sky Request-A-Bets I like the look of for tonight’s UK clash

    Here’s my reasoning points;
-Fancy Sane and Salah to score tonight. With Liverpool’s defensive injuries, I think Sane is going to have Alexander-Arnold in his pocket on that left hand side, the youngster may struggle and could lead to a foul or two
-Usually high corner affairs when either of these 2 teams are involved.
-This is the first leg and I think there will be a little more caution when it comes to tackles flying in.

    On the following;

Salah to score, BTTS & 10+ Match Corners
    1 POINT

Sane to score, BTTS, Over 2.5 mgls & Alexander Arnold to be carded
    Half point

Salah & Sane to score, 9+ match corners & Under 60 match booking points
    Half point

De Rossi first player carded & Suarez first goalscorer @ 40/1 (Skybet)

Suarez to score a header & Messi to score from outside the box @ 66/1 (Skybet) only 20/1 with Betfred

    Good luck

  45. shmarvel 3 years ago

You’re lucky! I’ve been restricted to a fiver ? that being the case I’m on city win & btts pre game and liverpool win & btts in play..

I’d suggest btts first half no pre game and as soon as in play put free bet on btts first half yes..

Or do as Ste suggested above.. good luck whatever you go for!

Just can’t make my mind up on pool v citeh so leaving it alone as absolutely anything can happen.

One thing I have done though is take Man Utd +1 evs for the weekend as this is citeh’s priority for the next week.

    Only bet tonight
    Barca -2 7/5

  50. dc john boy 3 years ago

Late in tonight & earlier bet downed by just 1 goal in kitchen game. Nothing flash tonight & probably loads already on this

    Over 2.5mgs 6/4
    Over 3.5mgs 5/1

Sterling & Suarez both to score 4/1

Risky long shot RAB for both champs league games

That Sasharv guy generally ok but prone to the occassional aggressive outburst I’ve noticed, shame

  52. boomshackle 3 years ago

    Barca & Celtic over 2.5tgs and Man City over 1.5tgs @ 5.6/1

Can’t help but think Liverpool’s soft midfield will be their undoing!

    Good luck all

    • boomshackle 3 years ago

I take my words back about Liverpool’s soft midfield, the entire team has been outstanding! 3-0 and it’s only half time!!!

Calm down wherever you are @maccathered 70 mins to go haha ?

    • Mr Fixit 3 years ago

I can’t imagine how excited he is. Think he casually said Liverpool will score 3 or 4.

    • alex_mufc83 3 years ago

Plenty of time for Liverpool to bottle it second half lile they love to do. What are the odds on a draw or City double chance LOL

Fair play to Macca for his confidence in the goal picks tho

    • Mr Fixit 3 years ago

Draw is 50-1. Can’t see it – I reckon Man City would take 3-1 right now.

    • alex_mufc83 3 years ago

Might back City DC for a tiny stake, could all change second half.

Liverpool are doing exactly what City do against other teams – high press – and it’s the exact tactic to beat City, at their own game
ALL other teams including United pay them too much respect and back off, and defend, which is exactly playing into City’s hands.. Wish more teams would go for it. Although not many other teams have a Salah in their squad.. fair play to Liverpool’s scouts – 100 times better than Uniteds that’s for sure!!

    • aarron19888 3 years ago

pep has never beaten klopp, was always going to be the facepalm tbh, if liverpool get a few nailed on defenders and a new keeper next year or the year after is proper frightening to think about. I don’t support an english team as I am scottish, but they will be a proper unit, but there is no getting away from it..

    • maccathered 3 years ago

Were a proper unit now,5 clean sheets out of 6 champions league games.

  57. aarron19888 3 years ago

@fraser51 = laugh out loud man.

    @maccathered well played.

All credit Liverpool – sensational that 1st half and well done Macca…cracking stuff on the goals acca ??

My 10/1 btts both halves downed and I’d say the early Liverpool goals have sunk the corners pick as well. Onwards to SA and hope Gremio can salvage some redemption.

  70. double carpet 3 years ago

    Only bet tonight
    Barca -2 7/5

Well done maccathard and all other winners today

  71. alex_mufc83 3 years ago

All bets down tonight literally because City didn’t score. Well done Liverpool

You know it’s not your night when Barcelona score 4 and Messi isnt on the scorecard, Celtic fail to net at home despite lots of chances against Dundee, and Liverpool manage to keep a clean sheet which is bizarre enough, but against City

  72. micky belfast 3 years ago

CORRECT SCORE DOUBLE LIVERPOOL 3-1 + BARCELONA 3-1. 210/1 LOSE . Got offered £320 cash out but thought man city woulda got late 1

    • alex_mufc83 3 years ago

      That’s really unlucky Mickey tbf

    • alex_mufc83 3 years ago

Although Barca ended 4-1 didn’t it. Still, you’d have expected a city goal by 60 mins or so

    • micky belfast 3 years ago

Yea alex late barca goal was gna cash out wen city scored but woulda got a great offer close to the 1k

    Liverpool v Man City

BTTS and 3+ Corners Each Team @ 10/11 (SkyBet) ///LOST///

    Half Stakes:

    Dinamo Zagreb v Rijeka BTTS @ 11/10 (Betfair) ///LOST///

Hapoel Beer Sheva v Beitar Jerusalem BTTS @ 5/6 (Various) ///WIN///

Rijeka were looking encouraging in the first half but the red card scuppered things.

Liverpool showing once again what can be done to City if you get in their faces. Although not much can be said for City’s display, even going forward in the second half. Never looked like scoring!

    Well done all winners.

  75. fraser51 3 years ago

If you see this macca, well done with your winners and well done with your team tonight.

Right looking forward to the game at the etihad next week

After a brilliant weekend of betting it has been a frustrating midweek for myself, one goal short last night and tonight downs my bets.

    • maccathered 3 years ago

Its a shame it’s a dead rubber now, there will be more empty seats in the Manchester end.

    • fraser51 3 years ago

An early City goal, a red card, anything can happen but if Liverpool go out for the kill then no way back.

Hoping for an entertaining quarter final , not bothered about who wins.

again cweltik took my money – I see that scotch League are as poor as Polish (even worse)

    • Mr Fixit 3 years ago

Don’t understand the comment. Celtic drawing makes the league look stronger – if they’d won 7-0 you’d said it was weaker.
Results like that happen in every league – Dundee scrapping for their lives and Celtic just not fully focused as they get to the finishing line.
