The US Open is fast approaching, with just a fortnight until the year’s final Grand Slam gets underway in New York. There’s still plenty of great tennis action between now and then, however, with the Cincinnati Open kicking off and the ATP/WTA events in Canada wrapping up as well. With two new tournaments starting, here are our betting tips this Monday.
Best Tennis Tips and Predictions Today
Based on the latest tennis odds, here are the bets we're recommend you jump on today:
Daniil Medvedev to Win ATP Cincinnati Open Outright @ 7/1
It has been a quiet last few months for Daniil Medvedev, with the Russian failing to fire on the European clay and grass. However, we expect Medvedev to come right in emphatic fashion this week and win the Cincinnati Open.
Medvedev is a past champion here, having won the tournament in 2019. He has also made the semi-finals on another two occasions, with an overall 15-6 record in Cincinnati. While he hasn’t had a stand out year, the self-proclaimed hard court specialist is still 18-5 on the surface in 2024 with wins over three top 10 players.
The world No. 5 is drawn in Carlos Alcaraz’s half of the draw. However, the Spaniard has several significant hurdles to overcome ahead of the semi-finals, with the likes of Alexei Popyrin, Holger Rune, Matteo Berrettini, Casper Ruud, Jack Draper, Jan-Lennard Struff and Stefanos Tsitsipas all lurking in Alcaraz’s quarter.
We say there’s a fair chance a post-Olympics Alcaraz falls early. This would open up a path for Medvedev to advance, and with Sinner struggling with injury, makes him the best bet for the title in Cincinnati.
Iga Swiatek to Win WTA Cincinnati Open @ 5/2
Speaking of post-Olympic runs, we expect to see a locked in Iga Swiatek in Cincinnati. The Pole suffered bitter disappointment when she lost to Qinwen Zheng and missed out on a gold medal in Paris.
Knowing the kind of competitor she is, this will only fire her up for Cincinnati and the US Open. We’d be surprised if she doesn’t come and and win both, particularly with Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka both out of sorts at the moment.
