Maxime Cressy to Beat Radu Albot @ 8/15
Maxime Cressy, in America, on grass–not a combination anyone wants to face. The big-serving American will be looking to finish a rough grass season on a high. Having been ranked as high as No. 31 in the world just two years ago, Cressy is now at No. 186 and only managed to make it through qualifiers once on the grass in the last month.
However, he takes on an equally embattled Radu Albot, who is less comfortable on the surface than the American. Expect Cressy to serve plenty of bombs and get through this in front of a home crowd.
Over 0.5 Tiebreaks in Opelka vs Lestienne @ 4/6
Speaking of serving bombs, Reilly Opelka makes his return to the ATP Tour for the first time this year in Newport. The big man is currently outside the world’s top 1000, but has formerly been inside the top 20.
Whether or not he has the stamina to go all the way and defeat Frenchman Constant Lestienne is an unknown. But, we say he’ll have it in the tank to at least force one tiebreaker.
Flavio Cobolli to Beat Daniel Altmaier @ 8/11
Over in Hamburg, home hero Daniel Altmaier takes on Italian Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli has had the better grass season by far, making the quarter-finals of Eastbourne and second round of Wimbledon. Altmaier, on the other hand, has only played two matches, missing all of the build up to the year’s third Grand Slam.
Switching to clay now, we expect that Cobolli will carry over that momentum. He has his best career win percentage on the dirt, and should get past Altmaier here.
