Monday’s football tips: Celtic new boy Hogh 3/1 for an assist in Premiership opener with Dundee

The first round of fixtures in the new SPFL Premiership season comes to a climax tonight as champions Celtic get their title defence underway at home to Dundee.

With last term's title rivals Hearts and Rangers both dropping points in their first outings, it's a chance for Martin O'Neill's men to open up an early gap.

The Hoops are heavy favourites but Dundee caused them a few problems last term and Stephen Pressley's men will be looking to spring a shock.

Celtic vs Dundee top betting tips

It has been another summer of slow recruitment at Parkhead with only two players signed so far, much to the frustration of fans.

But those two additions, Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh, should make Celtic more potent in attack, even though star man Daizen Maeda has moved on.

Both should start tonight, either in a change of system or with Duran moving to the left flank, and they're each odds-on for a goal.

But the price is much better if you back either for an assist tonight. The Dane should act as a focal point as centre forward and he's a tempting 3/1 to set a goal up.

If Duran plays on the left the Colombian could provide the ammunition and he's 11/4 for an assist.

OB Odense vs Sonderjyske

The top-flight action in Denmark tonight sees OB Odense hosts Sonderjyske in the second round of Superliga fixtures.

Both teams suffered defeats in their openers, with Odense losing 1-0 at Viborg in the curtain raiser while Sonderjyske were edged 3-2 in a thriller at home to Midtjylland.

This fixture has been closely fought in the last few seasons, with four of the last five meetings ending in draws.

That suggests another tight game tonight and yet another stalemate pays 5/2 at Bet365. The half-time draw is a safer option and that pays 11/8.

The last three meetings have all hit double figures for corners and over 10.5 flag kicks is priced at 5/6 by Bet365. Over 4.5 Sonderjyske corners is a bit bigger at evens.

Halmstad vs Sirius

Surprise leaders Sirius are showing no signs of slipping up in the Swedish title race and should bank three more points away to rock-bottom Halmstad tonight.

We're now 14 games into the new season and Sirius have yet to lose, racking up 12 wins and two draws in a hugely impressive start.

Halmstad, in stark contrast, have won just once in the league all season and find themselves sitting on a measly tally of seven points.

Sirius are 7/20 hot favourites to pile on the pain and it's tricky finding value with the leaders at such a short price.

They've scored three or more in four of their last five games so betting on a heavy win looks like the best option. Backing Sirius at -1 in the handicap pays a decent 20/21 while going for them at -2 in the same market boosts the odds to 12/5.

Red-hot Robbie Ure is averaging over a goal a game for Sirius this term and the Scot is just 4/5 for another strike. But if you back him to score first then the odds increase to 10/3.
