Monaco vs Borussia Dortmund

UEFA Champions League. Kick-off: 8pm, Tuesday 11th December. Live on BT Sport Extra 3

DORTMUND expected to be heading to Monaco looking for the win that would have sealed top spot in Group A.

But a shock stalemate against Club Brugge at the Westfalen last month has left them needing a favour from the Belgians when they face new group leaders Atletico Madrid.

Nobody expected Lucian Favre's free-scoring side to draw a blank at home to Brugge but they failed to find a way through and now look set to finish second in the group instead.

But Dortmund will know it won't be a stroll for Atletico in Belgium so they will want to make sure they give themselves a chance by seeing off rock-bottom Monaco in France.

Things have picked up a little for Monaco boss Thierry Henry after a dismal start to his management career, with his side winning two of their last three games in Ligue 1 to ease relegation worries a little.

They were also far from embarrassed at Atletico in their last Champions League game, losing just 2-0 when two early goals had left them facing another hammering.

But the rampant Bundesliga leaders should still have too much firepower for them and that's why 888 Sport make Borussia Dortmund 7/10 favourites.

Monaco are 18/5 and although that's excellent value for any home team in the Champions League it's hard to see a side with so many injuries upsetting the odds, although don't completely rule out a draw at 33/10 with 888 Sport.

Dortmund's odds are too miserly so try backing them to be winning at both half-time and full-time which is a decent 31/20. A win for the Germans with both teams to score also looks good at 41/20 with 888 Sport.

I tipped Marco Reus to score in Borussia's last European outing only to be let down but I'll stick with him again at odds of 17/4 for first scorer and 5/4 for anytime scorer.

American wonderkid Christian Pulisic scored Dortmund's first group stage goal this season and could round off the campaign with another. He's a tempting 43/20 for anytime scorer despite the fact he could start on the bench.

Recommended bets

  • Dortmund half-time/full-time 31/20 (888 Sport)
  • Dortmund win and both teams to score 41/20 (888 Sport)
  • Marco Reus anytime scorer 5/4 (888 Sport)
