Unfortunately, Cairnzy's tip on Tuesday didn't manage to win and that was mostly due to the horse not settling throughout the entirety of the race. The race was over 3m, so wasting too much energy from being keen is something you can't be doing over extreme distances, so it wasn't a surprise to see his effort stop after a mistake late on. The race was won by the progressive JP McManus horse who is unbeaten over fences and will continue to be a menace as he creeps up the handicap.

Puddlesinthepark 7/1 – Hereford 2.18

I often get my fingers burnt when backing the combination of Adam Wedge and Evan Williams, and I do try and avoid backing them as more often than not they are riding/training with future gambles as their main goal. So going against my word and backing Puddlesinthepark seems a tad strange, as I'm not 100% sure we are getting on at the right time, but there's only so far they can go with this horse before they have to cash in on his handicap mark and off a mark of 84, I think he could be worth a go in a race which won't take much winning.

I can totally understand why Simple Getaway is the favourite, and I can actually see why he is the price he is as this race is not that strong. However, his form doesn't make him a shoo-in for this race, and when you have Puddlesinthepark who has not been in the best of form but has dropped to a very low mark, I think you can probably take the favourite on, which is what I am doing. Most of the time when it comes to Evan Williams, if the money is strong on their horses, you'll be in with a shout, and if they are big drifters you might as well rip up your betting slip, so take that into consideration if you're following me in with this horse.

This horse is only a 7-year-old, and despite him being a maiden over fences, he has been placed six times and has recorded RPRs in the high 90s and low 100s on a couple of occasions, so his handicap mark of 84 definitely makes him ‘well-handicapped', which sounds daft as he hasn't won a race over the larger obstacles, but it is a true statement. The lack of recent rain should be in his favour as his sole win over hurdles came on good ground, and I think the run at this track last time out when he was not strong in the market (28/1), was an indicator that he could be running a big race soon. Adam Wedge didn't exactly put him in the race, held him up towards the rear and then went fourth on the run-in, with Wedge making it look like harder work than it probably was.

His form is decent from last year, with the close runner-up finish to Shady B looking decent as that horse has since won off a slightly higher mark last week to take his record over fences to 2/4 with a further two placed efforts.

Due to the nature of this yard, I'll take the gamble in the win market, but you can obviously go EW.
