Rizz is unable to cover the racing for today but will return on Wednesday evening for Thursdays cards.
Rizz only had one selection for Tuesday and unfortunately his faith in an old selection didn’t pay off, with Planned Paradise running a disappointing race at Fakenham.
Christian Williams seemingly held a strong hand in that contest with both of his runners filling the top two spots in the market. Fever Dream was sent off favourite and looked like your eventual winner from a long way out, but found nothing under pressure and could only manage third place in the end.
Cairnzy’s Tips – Lambourn 6/4 – Chester 3.05
This year’s Chester Vase looks competitive on paper as we have plenty of exciting types on show who are open to plenty of progress this season.
From a punting angle, it’s probably not the best race to have a bet in, but given Aidan O’Briens fine record in this contest (won this race 10 times), I thought I’d roll the dice with Lambourn, who arrives here with strong claims on the back of an encouraging reappearance back in March.
My selection was last seen chasing home his stable mate Delacroix at Leopardstown in a Group 3 contest over 1m2f. He kept up with Delacroix for the most part in that contest but once Ryan Moore went for home he scooted clear to win by over 2L. With that said, I thought it was a cracking effort by Lambourn and he should improve for the further step up in distance.
Those who have proven themselves to some degree at Group Level are surprisingly towards the bottom of the market, with Lazy Griff landing a Group 3 in Chantilly last September while O’Briens other runner Thrice finished third in a Group 3 at Leopardstown last October but is clearly not fancied by stable jockey Ryan Moore.
You could argue they are massively over priced but the market seems to think those who have not run to that level are capable of doing so in the future and should progress past those types in due course.
