racing tips daily 2

Cairnzy's sole selection of Monday was a winner, although he was as short price when tipped up, it proved to be a good selection as he was punted off the boards and won at odds of 4/9F, and doing it with ease on debut for James Doyle.

The Doyen Chief 9/4 – Taunton 2.25

I stuck up The Doyen Chief on his chasing debut at Market Rasen a few months ago, and I got the impression he desperately needed the run that day and that Tom Cannon was not too bothered about the final result as he didn't get too involved in the race until the final couple of fences, by which point the race was over.

He has raced once more over fences since that Market Rasen run, which was not a good showing at all. Despite him running below par last time out, I think he deserves another chance with the step up to 2m 7f likely to be a big positive for him, as is the softer ground which has been to his liking throughout his career since his PTP days.

I am under no illusion that this is a decent race with the likes of Stormy Flight and Pimlico Point being good yardsticks at this level, but off a mark of 124 I'd be very disappointed if my selection wasn't at least 10-15lbs better off in the future that his current rating, so if I believe he has that much up his sleeve, he has to be the selection in today's race.

Emotional Roller 5/2 – Market Rasen 2.10

I can't remember if I put Emotional Roller in a Lucky 15 thread/normal thread or I just had a few quid on him on a day I wasn't covering the racing, but either way, I have backed this horse in recent times and he didn't manage to win for me but has done since.

Since moving to fences he has threatened to win a race on one occasion with a runner-up performance to Fiadh. He was well fancied on that day and was well fancied at Catterick the time before last where he was given a strange ride, as was most of the field when they gave the winner too much of an easy lead and the horse just didn't stop. It turns out the form of that race has worked out very well.

Catch Catchfire won at Sedgefield in a very taking fashion, which saw Zwicky follow that horse home in second place, and then obviously Emotional Roller won next time out. He has to prove he is still on a decent handicap mark as he has gone up 6lbs and also doesn't get the 3lb claimer on board this time around, but with the yard being in fantastic form and with a very good jockey on board today, I think he has a fair bit left before the handicapper gets a tight grip.

Yes Day 6/1 – Market Rasen 3.45

Another horse that I have tipped up in the past and that I firmly believe is ahead of the handicapper when it all clicks is Yes Day. It has also been disappointing since moving to fences.

Disappointing could be a little over the top as he did run an okay race on his chasing debut, but last time out at Southwell he was well-fancied and ran a very bad race. For whatever reason it was at Southwell, he didn't perform to what was expected, and that's not normally the case with this yard as when the money is down from the Jonjo yard, they tend to strike.

I thought he was on a decent mark to go well on his chasing debut off a mark of 121, so now he is running off a mark of 116 and is now running over a longer trip, which looks sure to suit based on his running style and his runs in PTPs, he has to be given a second chance for me. I don't think this will be a walk in the park as there are some interesting horses from some big yards lining up, but I do expect him to win this race if he is back to his best.
