Cairnzy and Rizzel have picked out two selections each for Tuesday's lucky 15 bet. As usual, if you have a fancy let us know in the comments.
Cairnzy's Tips
Holbache 4/1 -Hamilton 5.30
I think the top two in the market can be taken on in this race and the Julie Camacho-trained Holbache looks like a good alternative to do so at a better price of 4/1.
The forecast soft ground I thought could be a problem for the current favorite Strong Johnson while the second favorite Moonstone Boy remains completely out of sorts. The Julie Camacho yard has hit a bit of form recently and her runner Holbache arrives here on the back of a convincing 2L victory at Pontefract last month. A 5lb rise for that recent success asks more of him here but he seemingly had a bit to spare that day and he has a solid chance of following up.
Golden Paradise 5/2 – Lingfield 3.15
Not much separates Golden Paradise and current market leader Miss Nightfall but I was surprised that my selection for this race wasn't heading the market.
From what I've read, the absence of three months is a bit off-putting but I think that's a bit over the top, three months is hardly a long layoff from the track and she did well to win last time out, overcoming inexperience before going on to win comfortably by just under 3L. She's drawn well for this contest and can shrug off a 5lb penalty with further progress expected.
Rizzel's Tips
Lady Phoebe 16/1 – Hamilton 8.00
I thought Lady Phoebe was an interesting angle in this race at the bottom of the weights. She is going markedly up in trip today which should help her out massively based on her pedigree.
She is a half-sister to Adam Nicol’s stable star, Wise Eagle who is a very good horse over staying trips and is a top-class handicapper/on the verge of a Class 1 horse. Lady Phoebe has not been tried over anywhere near today’s trip, so her basement mark of 50 now upped in trip could make her ridiculously well-handicapped. The softer ground conditions should be fine as she is by Phoenix Of Spain who has a very solid rate from his progeny on slower surfaces.
Miss Dubai 2/1 – Lingfield 4.15
It was painful to see Foinix win five days ago as I put him up on his last start, he is an obvious contender for today’s race with a 5lb claimer on board but I’ve opted for the Tadhg O’Shea ride, Miss Dubai.
She didn’t beat much last time out when she was an easy winner at today’s venue (but the AW track), but she was previously in solid form, and it was about time that she got her head in front. She is still a relatively lightly raced horse and is a 3-year-old so she does have time on her hands, and more progression can come now she’s managed to get her head in front.
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
