Cairnzy didn't manage to find a winner on Wednesday, but one of his runners bumped into a smart-looking type, who could be worth following.

Dark Reign was weak in the market, and doubled in price from what Cairnzy tipped her at. She broke from the stalls slowly, and Sean Levey never looked to be enthusiastic about getting a better position. The horse finished last and looked awful. That's surprising as she is related to some smart horses. Maybe she will be better with that experience.

Cairnzy's other runner bumped into what could be a smart horse in the form of Royal Heritage. That horse was a price of 30/100 on debut, and connections clearly knew they were dealing with a nice horse. He won whilst never getting out of second gear, and looks like a Class 1 juvenile.

Consecrated 10/1 (0.5pt EW, 5pl) – Newbury 3.30

I'm taking a left-of-field view of this race, and I was really interested in Consecrated from the Haggas yard. She won over today's course and distance on debut last year, but has since been gradually upped in distance, as far as 14f. They dropped her back to 10f on her return at Haydock in a Listed race, and they are dropping her back to 7f.

She has a very interesting profile, and probably one that a lot of people would not want to get involved in, as it's a total unknown, but I think at 10/1 I'd chance it. Haggas did something similar with a horse that he acquired from Sir Michael Stoute's yard, More Thunder. That horse didn't go up in trip as much as Consecrated did, but once he got his hands on that horse, he dropped in him trip. More Thunder won on his return to sprinting and did it at 10/1.

Consecrated has already shown she has the pace for the trip, and she is related to an ex-Haggas horse called Sacred. That filly was a very good sprinter on her day, so it seemed a strange decision to try her over much longer trips. In fairness, Consecrated was tried at a much higher level than today's race, and she ran quite well. If this trip is more to her liking, she could be far too good for this field, given how well she has raced over much longer trips.

There is a strong possibility that the favourite is on a good handicap mark, but it's her return to the track, and the yard isn't in the same level of form as we've seen from earlier stages of the season.
