Having been tipped at 8/1 the night before, Hiero Sport was steadily supported on Wednesday, before getting the job done in pleasing fashion. A nice winner indeed.
Southwell - 18:15 |
Silver Samurai |
10/1 |
On Thursday, the all-weather meeting at Southwell is the one to focus on as far as I’m concerned, and ahead of the contest taking place at 18:15, a Class 3 race over seven furlongs, Silver Samurai catches the eye at 10/1.
Last time out, despite not being fancied in the betting, the gelding took well to Southwell’s seven furlongs, running on from the back to take third in a Class 2 contest.
Drop down to Class 3 company not to be ignored
Following that encouraging C&D effort last time out, the mount of Callum Rodriguez drops back into Class 3 company here, which certainly grabs my attention.
Not only is the Marco Botti runner 2 lbs below his last winning mark, but he has a Class 3 record that is not to be ignored. He’s won two of his last five races at this level, winning most recently over tonight’s trip at Doncaster back in June.
Today, he’ll race from a handicap rating of 89. Interestingly, he’s gone close, finishing second or third in each of his last five Class 3 runs from marks of 89 or less. He finished second, beaten by just a short head when last racing on the all-weather (at Kempton) from a mark lower than 90.
If we narrow it down further and look only at his Class 3 efforts over seven furlongs, we can see that he’s either won or finished second in three of his last four runs. That sort of form is not to be ignored as far as I’m concerned.
The gelding, who posted a strong speed figure last time out over C&D, also ranks right up there on both last-time-out and career speed ratings, which is definitely not something to ignore, especially on this surface. The figure that he produced on the all-weather at Kempton back in January is the best of the bunch as far as this field is concerned.
Quite simply, for my money, odds of 10/1 are generous and should be taken by those looking for a value play ahead of this evening’s action.
Based on a £10 level-stakes example, the Nap of the Day (after 52 Naps) has a running P/L of +£50.00 (since switching to being published here (10/09/2024) rather than on the ‘Nap of the Day' page).

I’ll be honest, for someone who is relatively relentless in the comments section of a website where the content is 90% betting tips, some of your remarks make very little sense.
Stuck a bet on this but kissed my money beforehand….for future reference don’t kiss money as it could’ve been anywhere 🤢
Spursman apparently 90% of notes also contain a white powder as used for sniffing!
