Cairnzy was absent yesterday and as a result, we couldn't post a lucky 15 bet for Saturday's racing. Both tipsters are back in action now and have selected 4 horses for Sunday's Lucky 15 bet.
Cairnzy's Tips –
Melton Mossey 9/4 – Newtown Abbot 4.10
Melton Mossey disappointed when failing to land the hat trick here a couple of weeks ago. He had a wind op at the start of the year which seemingly worked a treat as he returned to action in May when winning on his handicap debut off a mark of 80 for previous owner Laura Horsfall.
He then switched hands to Evan Williams in June and was quick to reward connections at Worcester on his first outing, winning nicely by 2L in the end. He's been dropped 6lb by the handicapper for his disappointing effort last time out and Isabel Williams takes off a further 3lb, so he is weighted nicely to return to winning ways.
Borderline Boss 9/4 – Redcar 2.52
This looks tricky and cases can be made for quite a few, but the Kevin Ryan yard is in good form this season and his runner Borderline Boss comes here with a decent chance.
There was a lot to like about his reappearance effort at Doncaster last time out, he went down by half a length to the Chris Dywer-trained Kurimu who had been knocking at the door prior and had race fitness on his side. I caught a replay of the race and my selection was caught out for pace around the two pole but made up some nice ground to chase the winner to the line. He looks like a big player in this contest off an unchanged mark and the step up in trip looks like a good move by connections given how strong he was at the finish at Doncaster.
Rizzel's Tips –
Jackie Oh 6/5 – Curragh 4.20
She is going to be amazing value at just over EVS as this is her first race of the season, but on paper, Jackie Oh is by far the best filly in this race and if she is ready to rock n roll on her first start, she'll be tough to beat. I'm not having that she needs soft ground, that is a total lie. She probably is better on soft ground, but her best form probably came in the French Prix de L'Opera Group 1 behind Blue Rose Cen. The websites claim that the ground was good to soft that day, which is nonsense as they were 0.5 seconds below average, which suggests it was quicker than that, and based on that, she clearly does handle a quicker surface. I'm hoping Ryan can give her a clear run through this race as she hasn't had much luck at the Curragh in recent times.
Eurkash 15/8 – Newton Abbot 2.35
Eurkash has been a horse on a downward slope for quite a few years, with his sole win coming back in 2020. His handicap mark has dropped massively as a result of that and he has moved yards to James Owen, who I think might be able to revitalise him. This trip is a tad shorter than what he has had his best form over, but James seems to do well when obtaining horses from other yards, and he can definitely improve them. Sean Bowen is a very eyecatching jockey, he hasn't had a win from five attempts for James, but he is one of the best jumps jockeys in the business (on this side of the Irish sea), and he is operating at a 23% SR in the last fortnight.
Eurkash's handicap mark is at a career-low of 73, and even though he has won in a long time, his run over fences in November off a mark of 78 and his run at Plumpton off a mark of 80 were decent efforts and showed that he still has something left to give.
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
