The not so Glorious Goodwood festival has come to an end, and Galway enters its last day, but nothing really catches the eye over there so our tipsters have opted for runners at Haydock, Chester and Deauville.
As usual, in the comments, let us know who you fancy for today's racing.
Cairnzy's Tips
Angel Hunter 4/1 – Haydock 4.45
Angel Hunter showed significant promise on debut, finishing a respectable third behind Anno Domini, a useful sort from the Charlie Appleby yard. The form of his subsequent two-length fourth-place finish at Ascot has since received a boost, as the winner went on to put in a credible performance in the Vintage Stakes. Angel Hunter's takes a drop in trip for this contest, which looks like the right move by connections.
Existent 15/2 – Haydock 6.15
It is easy to be drawn into backing horses sliding down the handicap marks but have not shown a good level of form for quite a while. More often than not, this tactic doesn't pay off, but Existent is becoming increasingly well-handicapped and the jockey booking of Connor Planas who takes off a further 3lbs makes him a lively contender in today's sprint race. This horse has always been a very good sprinter but has been a horse who doesn't get his head in front all too often, especially on turf as his one win from nearly thirty attempts would suggest. However, he has dropped down to a mark of 88 which is effectively 85, this is becoming too low to ignore. He has run some belters this year and looks to be the right time to catch him.
Rizzel's Tips
Sea Grey 2/1 – Chester 5.05
Sea Grey has returned to the flat in great form for Donald McCain who has been targeting his local flat track, Chester.
Sea Grey is 2/2 at Chester this season and has been contesting slightly better races than today's so despite him going up in handicap by 2lbs, he is surely going to go well off top weight. Though he has been raised a couple of pounds, Donald has opted for one of claimers to take the ride, with Charlie Maggs removing a very handy 7lbs. With him now effectively running below his last two winning marks, he has every chance of landing the hattrick.
Bradsell 15/8 – Deauville 4.17
It's a shame that Bradsell hasn't had more runs under his belt as he is now returning as a 4-year-old with just eight runs under his belt.
He is still a very talented horse on his day and he wasn't just a very good 2-year-old shown by winning at Royal Ascot, he then proved it last year when winning a Group 1 as well as being placed in the Nunthorpe. Today's race sees him returning after close to a year off the track, so clearly has had his problems, but he must in top form for connections to send him to France for his return. This is a listed race, and if he is anywhere near his best form, he should be far too good for this field.
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
