Yesterday was our third day in a row of putting up a winning single, we've had some sort of return from every single L15 since my fourth day here, which is 32 L15's in a row. Only 4 of the 20 this month have shown a profit but both each-way and on the nostril singles remain in profit.
Saturday's selection process was a bit of a nightmare, a horse I didn't want included was forced into the bet given I accidentally put two from the same race up, it wasn't the worst day considering but still fell short of my high expectations. I'll never blame form, I am more than competent and firmly believe time constraints/real life commitments are all that stands in our way.
With the look of the racing on Sunday, I have assembled four who are capable but don't overly inspire me, there are some nice priced runners I would have liked to include but won't be throwing up 2 placed races if I can help it.
Attacanter Racing Tips
Bay Breeze 9/1 – 16.42 Hamilton
At half the price, I almost sided with Impressor who was an unlucky loser last time here at Hamilton. On the slide a little I almost chanced it but instead will hope Bay Breeze is able to take advantage of a few things in his favour.
I am happy to overlook the 6th of 6 last time given he finished 4th of 21 at York, the winner of that race was 4th in the Bronze Cup yesterday at Ayr. The horse hasn't won since August 2023, but it was in a Class 3 rated 84.
This horse is now rated 70 having peaked at 86 last season, it is the first time he is entered into a Class 5 for well over two years, typically operating well above this level. That is what I've latched onto, so if able to reproduce his York form, he should be in the mix on ground that he will appreciate.
The trainer had 2 winners and a 2nd at this course around this time last year, as the busiest yard in the business, he sends out plenty that are avoidable – I haven't checked his other runners here but have latched onto this class dropper.
Iris Dancer 13/2 – 15.42 Hamilton
Iris Dancer is a very likeable 6yo filly from the Triston Davidson yard, she has had a decent career and this summer continued to show she was capable of making an impact at this level. She loves it here and on a day lacking value, I thought she has enough credit in the bank to include her here.
At first glance I did smell a rat, with two poor recent runs, it seemed as if we had missed the boat, with the random apprentice booking looking like a spare but I've since learned she is seeking to win this race for the 3rd year in a row, which leads me to believe this talented 7lb claimer is a positive booking.
She will be racing off 61 today, 4lbs below both of her wins this season, at this time last year when winning this race, it was off 67, with many other good runs here from higher marks. Hamilton is a stiff track and to see she has been somewhat of a specialist in this is enough to chance her.
V Twelve 11/2 – 17.12 Hamilton
Chancing a skinny enough selection carrying top weight on soft going at a stiff track is not exactly what I set out to find but here we are.
V Twelve represents Martin Todhunter, over the last couple of weeks his runners have been going very well, he's had two winners and a good handful of 2nd places which is enough for me to take notice. Nolan is a regular for the trainer, they've shared 3 winners from 7 runners here over the previous 3 years.
The horse won here a month ago off 3lbs lower, that race had a couple of winners in it so there is scope for him to improve. He was dropped a furlong at a similarly stiff Pontefract off today's mark in an apprentice race finishing a respectable enough 3rd. He is now upped to 1m4f shouldn't hamper him too much and can show his younger rivals just what's required if they're going to make it.
The horse hasn't got the best looking profile, it is in fact quite sketchy but I am happy to go with him. That's My Boy Luke has nothing to go on, with a line through another he has the beating of Jaminoz whilst Susiesparkle is out quickly having won last time when considered in a race I thought she was laid out for.
Onefortheditch 10/1 five places – 15.00 Listowel
I don't follow Irish racing, I have half an idea to get me by but the handicap system, races, the entire sport looks a complete minefield to an outsider, so many small trainers, so many apprentices, all a bit confusing if unable to keep your eye on it. With that said we throw a dart at one given the look at the racing in the UK.
I don't have my usual intuition to rely on here but have settled on this selection with Simon Torrens taking back over. The form lines do not look that strong but wins are wins, the horse has been very consistent this season and stays futher than this so can definitely be staying on at the business end of the contest.
She's now 13lbs above her win at Kilbeggan from July but I am willing to stick with her despite finishing 7.5 lengths back in 3rd from 3lbs lower last time. The winner that day is in this (Ask Cillian), we are now 10lbs better off with the claimer out of the picture, that form line doesn't look too key to this, but given her consistency, she goes in.
