Saturday's Lucky 15 wasn't great, with just one horse being placed.
Saber Strike was the only horse to place, and if you were to look at him for 80% of the race, you'd have thought he had no chance. He had no chance of winning, as the winner was lightyears clear of him, but he took second spot.
Lady Vivian got tired late home around Chester. She made a move to take the lead with half of the race to go, and when they turned for home she was under pressure, but I did think she would place. She faded and finished in fourth.
Poetic Sound put in a stinking run in the Ebor, as did his stablemate Diego El Queso in the final race of the meeting.
Dee's Funny Girl 9/4 – Deauville 12.58
When I saw that Dee's Funny Girl was bought by these owners just before her Royal Ascot race, it tempted me to back her for the Group 3 race. I decided against it, but she still ran a very good race, finishing sixth. After that, she moved to Donnacha's yard, and her only start for the new yard saw her finish second in another Group 3.
Her latest run saw her have a slow start, but she finished strongly, only losing to Moonrise, who had solid form coming into that race. This race doesn't look as strong as her previous starts, and she is running over a furlong extra, which looks sure to suit.
Arnaz 2/1 – Brighton 3.50
This is a Class 2, but it's a glorified Class 5, so I wouldn't reach too much into the grade of the race.
Arnaz is on a hot streak at the minute, so even with him going up in the weights, I think he is the one they've got to beat. He has won off this mark before; it was over 7f, but it was at this track.
You can try and take him on, but I think it would be foolish. Stall 12 is a concern, as is the big field, but if he gets a clear run, he should be difficult to beat.
Sea Suite 2/1 – Brighton 4.20
I do think Sea Suite benefitted from the runner-up getting a horrendous ride at this venue last time out, but youcan't knock the horse's consistency.
Given that I think the runner-up should've won, but Sea Suite was carrying 10st 2lbs, it still has to be solid form. The runner-up had run well at Glorious Goodwood in a big-field handicap, which has seen the form franked by quite a few horses.
This is a drop in trip, which shouldn't be an issue for him. He got to the front early enough last time out, and I think if he is given a similar ride, he'll be perfectly fine.
At The Oche 2/1 – Worcester 2.38
I'd be surprised if At The Oche isn't a much shorter price when this race goes off; the only way I can see him staying at this price is if people fancy the Murphy horse.
At The Oche put in a good display last time out, apart from one noticeable mistake. If he can avoid any mistakes, I'm sure he'll still be well handicapped, which is so often the case for Skelton horses during the summer months.
It was his chase debut last time out, so there's got to be more to come, especially with that run under his belt from 125 days away from the track.
