Warwick was abandoned due to a waterlogged track yesterday which resulted in me having just the two selections yesterday. Both ran with credit but could only manage second place. Ali Star Bert was a frustrating one as the favourite was pulled up and it then was basically a two horse race. It looked at one point like my selection was going to go catch the eventual winner but It wasn't to be.
Bell shot ran another encouraging race for Mick Appleby, he was weak in the market all day and drifted out to 6/1 at one stage after me putting him up last night at 2/1. He got the better of the horse I was worried about but bumped into one better on the day.
Lingfield and Musselburgh are the two tracks I've concentrated on for todays selections.
Purefoy 11/4 – 3:00 Lingfield
Current market leader Pedro Valentino merits respect on his mission to follow up his Wolverhampton success from last year but at the price I thought he was worth taking on with Andrew Baldings Purefoy who looks on a fair mark now switched to a handicap.
He ran a nice race last time out at this track when finishing a close second behind George Bougheys Blessed Boy. That race was over the mile and he drops back to the 7f tomorrow which I think is the right move by connections. The run behind Blessed Boy was a massive step in the right direction compared to his two runs previous to that.
He has since been gelded and had time of the track to improve and mature and I think he could pose a massive threat with Oisin Murphy taking over the reins.
Gone Rogue and Twirler are two possible pace angles to the race with their front running tactics and they could be a danger if getting their own way in-front as they both know how to win races.
Sunday Soldier 4/1 – 5:05 Musselburgh
This is a cracking race and filled with horses who all have chances in their own rights. I think it is worth chancing Sunday Soldier to complete the five timer as she comes into this race in the form of her life and in my opinion still looks on a workable mark.
She has been a bit of a money spinner for connections of late having won four on the trot and two of which were at this track. She started her winning streak at Musselburgh in December where she won over 2m. She followed up with another impressive winning performance in January before connections sent her out again shortly after where she won nicely at Sedgefield.
She was given a mark of 106 as a result for those efforts and showed it was well within reach when she made it 4 from 4 by winning a Doncaster qualifier for this by a whopping 10 lengths.
Sunday Soldier has to shoulder another 8lb which in total means shes's up 36lb but as previously mentioned she is a horse on a roll with proven form on testing conditions and until such time she's found out by the handicapper I think she is worth chancing again.

REALLY looking forward to seeing this horse again “There’s a buzz aboot the place “ – looking at the news/info available today I’m not the only one. Marked him down from debut win but it was the next run that was impressive. Equibase have him under “horses to watch” and stats tells how impressive that run was. Booth and Glencarry have to be respected along with few class droppers but hopefully gets out clean from the gate and the extra furlong should bring out even more with the way he was finishing over 6.
GL all today
ECHO!” ?
Quiet day then, just seen the abandoned meeting’s ?
??
Well here’s a STAT attack since it’s all quiet on the western front from Equibase “Horse to watch” information which, in grand scheme will mean …ah f’@ck all if the horse isn’t at the races .
Doncho

Blazed a 1/2 mile in “0.47,79 seconds’ – 7th best in N.America last 90 days (includes G1 races like Florida Derby etc last week) Won 6F Allowance race (Listed) in ‘1:09.5’ ?
Standard time is around ‘1:12.00’ for any horse worth a go in a semi decent race. ⏰
Doncho “breezing” in a workout done 1:12.00 over 6F so not even ridden Handily as they say for timed works as I’m not pressed for a serious effort
Gets out quickly hopefully and that’s that with extra furlong not looking a problem. Booth and Glencarry have to be respected and others have ran in G2 races etc but Doncho for me!

What wins the Oaks at keenland
Just FYI or Impel ??
??. Yeah cheers Cairnzy. ?
??
Tough one DC and short answer is not a clue and it might not be either!
Long answer, don’t know why everyone is so against FYI? A lack of prep run maybe as he was due to run 3 weeks ago but was pulled.
Impel obviously had runs but this a big step up in class and weight but time was good at Fair Grounds and eased down a touch.
Only other with a realistic chance and run under his belt is Jodie’s Pride at 10/1, a neck 2nd in the Breeders Juvenile to FYI – prep race was in very sloppy conditions but got the win so at a price I’d go for him Ew. Jockey Flavian Prat back on board is a boost.
Combo /forecast tricast be a definite option! ?
See if I can find one worth a few $ but be good race! ? ??
Cheers ?
Yeah it’s difficult to know how it will go.
I’ll just probably end up watching it.
