Saturday has some very good racing on today, and there could probably be a lot more selections on both threads, but these are the four I've gone for on the Lucky 15.
I am advising today's Lucky 15 bet as an each-way Lucky 15 to capitalise on the enhanced places the bookies have on offer.
Son Of Sarabi 7/1 (3pl) – York 4.15
The most in-form trainer in the UK is Johnathan Portman; he landed a treble the other day, so he has his horses in great form. He has a couple of runners at York today, but Son Of Sarabi was the one I liked the most.
Johnathan Portman has another runner on the day, but that horse looks rightly handicapped. Whereas, Son Of Sarabi is an unexposed two-year-old, coming into this race on the back of a gelding operation.
This gelding of Cable Bay ran well on debut at Doncaster, finishing 2nd of 17, but has run below that on his next two starts. However, the races he competed in were decent races. This is a nursery which is a handicap, and off a mark of 76, he could be on a decent enough mark if he can return to form from his debut effort.
Existent 12/1 (5pl) – Ascot 4.50
If there was ever a horse for a placepot, it's Existent. It's a risk going for him in a Lucky 15 bet as he always hits the frame, but eventually he will win a race like this.
There's no doubt that he is in tremendous form; he has either finished second or third in the last six runs, some of them being in some very tough handicaps. Ashley Lewis takes over in the saddle from Rose Dawes, and he takes off 7lbs, so as long as he can get him in the correct place with a clear run, he should be bang there at the finish.
Believing 8/1 (4pl) – Newmarket 4.35
I have backed Believing on many occasions, and tipped her up a fair few times as well. She has not delivered the goods when being put up on the thread, but she is a very talented filly on her day.
She won a Group 1 in Meydan earlier in the year, which was well deserved after she went close in many big races last year. If there were ever a Group 1 over the sprint trips in the UK, this would be the one. She gets going far too late over five furlongs, so I think the stiff six furlongs will be to her liking.
Marvelman 11/4 (3pl) – Chester 5.30
Chester isn't a track that I am a big fan of, but Marvelman did catch my eye in their race of the day.
Marvelman ran well to finish second to Cosmic Year, who then went on to finish second in the Irish 2000 Guineas. Marvelman was raced from the front at Newmarket and he was very good with those tactics. From Stall 2 at a track like Chester which favours horses who race from the front, I'd expect them to try front-running tactics again.
