I messaged Rizz earlier on and offered to cover Saturday's Lucky 15 bet. Rizz will return tomorrow evening with Sunday's Lucky 15 selections.

I had some free time this evening, so I thought I'd jump on with some selections from York for this weekend's Lucky 15 bet.

Cairnzy's Lucky 15 Tips

Kings Gambit 3/1 – York 1.50

The opening race at York is a bit of a head scratcher, but after studying the field, I've decided to give Kings Gambit one more chance. There is no two ways about it, my selection has been an expensive sort to follow and I too have fallen victim to backing this horse on more than one occasion during this flat season.

I'll be honest, I wasn't totally convinced that this drop in trip would suit, but I think it all will depend on how the horse is ridden. If Danny Tudhope can ride him prominently, then I think he does have it in the tank to beat this field, and on all known form, he is the horse to beat.

Rossalion 11/8 – York 3.00

The City of York Stakes looks a belter on paper, and if there is a horse in this line-up who deserves to get their head back in front it's my selection Rossalion.

I think Richard Hannons charge is the best horse in this lineup, and he hasn't exactly done much wrong this campaign. I think it is fair to say he can probably count himself a tad unlucky not to have won at least one of his previous two Group One affairs. He was beaten by a nose at Royal Ascot and went down by a neck recently at Glorious Goodwood, a race that was won by the 150/1 shot Qirat. My selection motored home on both occasions, but the line came too soon. Rossalion steps back up to 7f, which is a distance he has never won over, but the manner in which he has been finishing off his races suggests it may be a good choice by connections to send him back over further.

Ethical Diamond 13/2 – York 3.35

The Irish have sent over an army of horses for this year's York Ebor Handicap and it is no surprise to see Willie Mullins holding the top two in the market.

Hipop De Loire is your current 10/3 favourite to land the spoils, but I was more interested in Ethical Diamond who has jockey William Buick on board and looks a more attractive price at 13/2.

I thought his win at Royal Ascot over Mutaawid was strong form, and although that came over 1m4f my selection should have no issue with this extra distance, having already run over during the jumps season last year.

Suzie Songs 11/4 – Curragh 4.02

The Aiden O'Brien favourite composing looks like a worthy favourite on paper, she is proven at the trip and won impressively in a Group 3 last time out at Leopardstown. With that said, I'm going to take her on in this instance with Ger Lyons filly Suzie Songs, who, although is unproven at the trip, she also looks a really promising sort, having won her only two races to date in nice fashion.

I'm hoping she will improve further for the step up in trip, and she should hold every chance of upsetting the even money favourite.
