Rizzel was busy on Thursday hence why there was no selections from him on the main thread and no Lucky 15 posted yesterday, but he is back today and we have the Lucky 15 back up and running for a good day of racing.
Cairnzy and Rizzel have picked out two selections each for Saturday's lucky 15 bet.
Cairnzy's Tips
Oligopoly 8/1 – Haydock 5.20
A wide-open contest in which claims can be made for many. The one I like at the prices is Oligopoly for the Easterby team. Formerly trained by Joseph O'Brien, Oligopoly joined Tim Easterby in the back end of last year. He didn't show much in his first two outings for his new stable but improved markedly when finishing second at Doncaster last time out. If able to build on that effort, then he could be a big player in this contest at an attractive price of 8/1.
Solomon 5/4 – Ascot 3.55
He is a bit short in the betting at 5/4 but Solomon surely comes here with a massive chance for the William Haggas team. His finishing position at York two runs back doesn't tell the whole story and he can find himself incredibly unlucky not to go close in that race. He was denied a clear run not once but twice and stayed on strongly in the final furlong once a clear passage appeared. He showed next time out that he's a progressive-looking sort when winning with the minimum of fuss at Haydock by just under 4L. My selection escapes a penalty for that recent success and looks a worthy favourite on paper to get the job done.
Rizzel's Tips
Kind Of Blue 2/1 – Curragh 3.25
Backing the younger horse against the older generation and visa-versa hasn't been going in my favour recently, but if Kind Of Blue can repeat his performance from last time out at Newbury, he has to be a huge player at the Curragh.
He was third in what appears to be a very strong Group 3 race won by Elite Status who must be a Group 1 winner in waiting based on his performances this year. The runner-up is an unexposed sprinter and to show how strong the form is, they had Regional in fourth who is a previous Group 1 winner and Group 1 placed horse.
Today's race looks an easier assignment, but it's at a totally different track and he's had to travel over to Ireland. If he has taken the travelling well and he handles everything well in the preliminaries, he should be a tough nut to crack.
American Arrow 13/2 – Haydock 4.45
This Listed race for the fillies and mares is a really interesting and competitive race, with a shout for every runner in the race.
I've decided to give a chance to the Ed Walker horse, American Arrow who is making her second start. She has a lovely pedigree being by American Pharoah and is out of a Group 2 winning mare. Connections clearly believed they had a nice prospect on their hands as she was extremely strong in the market when winning at today's track over a furlong shorter, winning at odds of EVS and doing it in very strong style.
The form is obviously not particularly great, and today's race is a huge step up against some talented and improving fillies, but she looked like a very nice horse at Haydock last time out and she seemed to really handle the track and enjoy the quick ground. The pedigree suggests the step up to a mile will be better for her, with both sides of the pedigree bringing form over a mile and further, and at the odds she is worth a dabble.
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
Well done ?
