I'll start off with Royal Mer who should never have drifted out to 9/4, but he did, and he won with ease as I said he probably would. Al Kalila should've won, there's no doubt in my mind about that. Ben Bromley had the horse go seven wide all race long and he must have run a furlong extra than the other horses, but he was still pitching until the final few yards, and with a better-judged ride, that was a win all day long.
Newcastle 1:53 Palace Boy 11/2 (1pt EW, Bet365 4pl)
Though I tipped up Palace Boy at Southwell on his last start and he was beaten by Spartan Army and in convincing style, I think there is reasons to believe he can reverse that form and win this race.
I do believe this horse is still on a good mark of 85 based on his two wins prior to his second-placed effort at Southwell. His win at Lingfield the time before last was very eye-catching given the way he was positioned in last place turning for home, but went past horses like the others in that race were running in fudge, he just glided past them and managed to get up and win by 2L, and that was with ease. Last time out he was running off a 6lb higher mark in a better race and he didn't manage to win, but I don't think things went to plan. He was held up at Lingfield the time before, but George Rooke positioned closer to the pace this time, which was the right idea, but they didn't go a good gallop at all, and I don't think that suited Palace Boy who seemed like a very good stayer on his two previous race starts on the flat. He was tapped for speed and the winner looked better suited for that type of race, so with a further swing in the weights in favour of Palace Boy and hopefully a stronger pace to aim at I can see a reverse in the form.
There are some classy horses in this race at the head of the weights, which has allowed Palace Boy to run at the bottom of the weights at 8st 3lbs and given that I think he is still ahead of the handicapper, carrying this feather weight over 2m is a huge advantage.
Newcastle 3:35 – Aberama Gold 22/1 (0.5pt EW, PaddyPower 4pl)
If you fancy Albasheer to run a big race for this race, then you've got to strongly fancy Aberama Gold as well.
Both of the horses I've mentioned ran at this track over 6f in a Listed race won by Tacarib Bay with a William Haggas horse as runner-up, with Albasheer in 3rd and Aberama Gold in 4th. My selection was positioned in last place entering the final furlongs and had to weave a passage through a couple of horses, he was staying on strongly but didn't have the time or was positioned the best to be seen to be effect, but it was a huge run and was only 0.5L behind Albasheer off level weights. The Archie Watson horse has gone on to do very well in recent months, winning his last two races and coming into this race in cracking form. However, that has seen his handicap mark skyrocket and now the weight difference between the two horses is 12lbs, and based on how close they were when they both ran at this venue gives Aberama Gold a huge chance.
Newcastle 4:10 – Oh So Grand 4/1 (2pt)
A horse I am a big fan of is Oh So Grand and I think she is a very good filly who is destined to be 100+ rated, so can take this race in her stride and land a fourth win in a row.
I tipped her up at Lingfield in the AW Oaks a couple of months ago and she just oozed class when winning that race. You could tell from the race before that at Lingfield that she was a horse going places as she was poorly positioned when turning for home, and had to go five or six horses wide but the way she picked out and when the turbo kicked him she looked like a really top class filly. Last time out she didn't do it the hard way, but she still got the same result and was a class above that field. Today's race is the hardest race in her career, that is without a doubt, she is against the males today, but off a mark of 97 and running off 9st 1lbs, I firmly believe she is still ahead of the handicapper and she could put the lads in their places.

Oaklawn Park -Race9….Red Run 9/2 **** Bet365
Been doing some good stuff “on Turf” but this is off aka on the dirt and hopefully see him back to his best Least that’s what Im pretty sure my notes are getting at from his race last March!?
Looking at past races it is as he went on to be a good 4th in a G2 then heavily tried on turf and he would probably have a chance on thee grass tbf.

Newcastle – 4.10…Bass Note 33/1 Ew
Not many UK runners in my tracker from UK but he’s been there a while now without me backing him. 2nd last year and although been looking as though further would be better he has form over this track and trip and not to far away from one at the top of the market in Penzance in a race. Drops to below last winking mark.

Tipped this last time going up in grade and flew home under expert riding by Hector Barrios who keeps the ride in same grade and distance. Slightly tougher opposition with few class droppers in here but should go in again.

Hi All
Not been on for a while as the racing has been pretty low key but some good racing to look forward to over the weekend which includes the Irish National 3 day meeting at Fairyhouse.
Fairyhouse is not far from my home and there has been some very heavy showers this week and the going will be heavy.
I’m sick of the rain can’t remember the last time we had a dry day, but at least the clocks go forward on Saturday so at least we’ll have an hour less rain !!
Anyway, there’s a few I fancy over the weekend but one in particular I thought I’d put him up now as he’s currently an ew price but if he’s fancied by connections that price won’t last.
COMFORT ZONE 6/1 ew 4 places 5.05
JP has won the last 4 and WM 5 of the last 10 so I’m not surprised to see Risk Belle at the top of the market but he ran in the County 15 days ago and you just don’t know how he’s come out of the race.
CZ hasn’t run over hurdles for over a year but ran a cracker on the flat in Sept when only just touched off.
He’s rated 132 now as a 5yr old but was rated 130 as a 3rd old and being a bigger stronger horse is surely thrown in here off that mark.
His only defeat from 4 runs was when 6 1/2L 3rd behind Lossiemouth and Zarak The Brave with Risk Belle 6L behind in 5th.
There’s always risk in backing horses off a long lay off but I think it’s worth a go as I think he will be campaigned for a crack at the Galway Hurdle in August and will need to have a higher mark to get into that race.
