It was nice to land a winner yesterday with Botanical who looked ever so impressive on the day.

He tracked the leaders from off the pace and moved up along stylishly before skipping clear to win by a few lengths. Botanical looks like a useful horse and I'm looking forward to seeing how he gets on throughout the rest of this season.

Saturday racing is upon us and there is plenty to get stuck into. I've 3 selections for tomorrow, which come from Thisk and Newbury.

New Image 7/4 – Thirsk 4:54

He isn't the most exciting of prices but he is just about worth a bet in this contest at 7/4.

New Image has progressed nicely since joining David O'Meara. My selection was originally trained by Ger Lyons before switching hands in August of last year.

He showed signs of ability when trained in Ireland, no more so when finishing second Age Of Kings. Age Of Kings went on to land the Class One Jersey Stakes at Ascot last year, so the form of that second looks strong in my opinion.

New Image joined the David O'Meara stable for 45,000 guineas and he repaid connections straight away when landing a maiden at Southwell by two lengths. He then ran with credit when finishing third on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton, before quickly returning to the winners' enclosure on his most recent outing by winning a class four handicap at Southwell last month.

New Image has been raised 4lb for that success which seems a tad lenient in my opinion. If he can transfer his AW form to the turf, he should be bang there at the finish.

Charyn 10/3 ( Betting Without Favorite Inspiral ) – Newbury 3:35

What an absolute cracker of a race, by far the best of the day!

It will be strange watching Inspiral without ole Frankie onboard. I'm not fully taken on Kieran Shoemark as of yet, he, of course, has big boots to fill, with Frankie retiring as the Gosdens' number-one jockey. It's still early days, but I can't help but think there were possibly better alternatives out there.

I'm a massive fan of Inspiral, she's won me a few bob over the last couple of years and she comes here in red hot form having won her last three on the bounce. On paper, she is a worthy favorite and if she shows up she will be a tough nut to crack. I went in search of a bit of value and my dart landed on Roger Varians Charyn. I was tempted by the 5s on offer by most firms but opted last second to take advantage of the betting without favourite market. I thought 10/3 was still a fair price and that's ultimately what I've gone for in this contest.

Roger Varian has his horses in great form and he has a good chance of continuing that with Charyn who has endless potential at hand coming into this flat season.

He could hardly have looked any better so far this campaign having already won twice this season. He won the Listed Doncaster Mile on soft ground by over 3L and followed up that success with a win in the bet365 Mile on good to soft at Sandown. I was extremely impressed with his run at Sandown, he beat home some decent types that day in the shape of Lord North, Poker Face, and my selection on that day Nostrum, who at present looks like a loss cause, but previously showed plenty of ability.

Inspiral and Big Rock have both won at Group One level where Charyn has only placed, which is a slight concern. With that being said, Inspiral and Big Rock are yet to race this year and come up against an improving four-year-old who has race fitness on his side. I'm delighted to see Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle, I'm a massive fan on his and he's in great form this season.

Chantilly 4/1 – Newbury 3:00

I'll keep this one short and sweet, It is a Friday night and all that…

The Aidan O'Brian yard continues to fire hot and cold at present. They'll be disappointed with Tower Of Londons effort, he traveled up well yesterday and at one point I thought he was going to win with something hand. In the end, he found absolutely nothing of the bridle and I'm sure connections are scratching their heads at the performance.

I like the chances of his runner in this contest though. Chantilly made an eye-catching return to action on the track when winning at Leopardstown six weeks ago on heavy ground. He's been raised 10lbs for that success but doesn't look like he has hit his ceiling yet, with further progression surely on the cards. It's worth noting that O'Brien won this contest last year with Unbelievable and he will be hoping to make it back-to-back victorys here today with Chantilly.
