Racing Tips – Magic Rascal can get his head In front at Leicester

It wasn't a great start to the week with both selections losing. I was more disappointed with Blue Day than the other selection. He was a shadow of the horse we saw when I tipped him up last month.

I have two selections for tomorrow which come from the meeting at Leicester.

Magic Rascal 5/2 – Leicester 3:03

This is a tricky little race and there are several coming here with claims, but Magical Rascal appears to me as the safest bet. My selection has improved considerably since his gelding operation in December last year having shown very little prior.

The George Boughey yard has hit some form and he has a reputation for getting his horses to perform well in handicaps. Magic Rascal has yet to get his head in front however he came close at Brighton in his recent outing, finishing second to a horse that showed significant improvement in its handicap debut. Despite being keen in his last outing, Magic Rascal should be a strong contender in this field if Pat Cosgrave can get him to settle.

Charencey 7/2 – Leicester 4:38

Charencey has displayed his likeness for the Leicester track, boasting a solid debut, a close second to a horse on the rise, and a recent triumph at the course in just three outings.

Despite moving up in class, his consistent top-three finishes on turf, except for his debut, and the convincing manner of his recent win indicate that he is more than capable of competing at this level. In his most recent outing, he returned to turf for the first time since narrowly missing out on victory here last October, marking only his fourth turf start. With a clear run inside the final furlong, he would have secured a comfortable win.

He appears to be well-placed for this handicap and a five-pound rise should not hinder his chances of going close, especially after performing admirably in a couple of Class 3 races on the AW this year, proving his ability to perform to a decent level.
