Corinthia Knight battled on like a trooper when winning at 4/1 at Pontefract at their night meeting yesterday. Based on that performance I would be inclined to back him again next time out if he doesn't go too far up in the handicap as that was a good run under top weight. The other selection, Algheed, was very well supported into 3/1 second fav from 8/1 and finished second. The winner did it easily and looked ahead of his mark, so the same applies to backing her again next time depending on the race.

Runner Jacket Trainer: Rod Millman

Jockey: Ross Coakley

Form: 60-631

When checking for the odds of HURRICAN HELEN, I had a sneaky feeling that she would be odds-on, so the fact she is slightly over that makes her a bet in this in my opinion.

This doesn't look like a strong race and she arrives into this race in good form and she can define a 4lb rise in the handicap. Her form numbers don't look too encouraging other than the 1 next to her name, but she is a much better horse on turf than the AW which her 0 wins from 6 and 3 wins from 10 would suggest. She has done all of her winning in Class 6 company so she might be short enough based on that record but as I mentioned earlier, this doesn't look strong.

Her run at Bath last time out was impressive as she was travelling very strongly behind a wall of horses and had to be switched out to get a run, and when she did she ran on strongly making the winning margin look worse than what it is. She is only a 4yo so there is potential for her to keep improving for a yard which is in good form and does well at one of their local tracks.

Salisbury 3:45

Runner Jacket Trainer: David Simcock

Jockey: Joey Haynes

Form: 75-21

This race looks like it could be quite messy in terms of pace, and that doesn't look good for most of those in this contest as they are keen goers. The horse that looks simple to ride and looks ahead of its mark is AIMING HIGH who won in good style at Doncaster last time out under a patient and confident ride by Joey Haynes who has been partnered up with her again today.

3yo's have an extremely good record in this race, winning the last 10 renewals, and maybe more but I can only see the last ten. There are two 3yo's in this race and she stands out over the Hughie Morrison trained, Lyrical Lady.

Aiming High seems to have a high cruising speed so the lack of pace shouldn't be an issue if that is the case. Sunrise Valley made some of the running last time out but was still keen in front when setting her own fractions. She ran on strongly despite pulling hard so I do expect this trip to suit that horse, but off 10st 2lbs she will have to be well ahead of her handicap mark to win this. I think she is a nice horse and is one to keep on the right side of, but this race doesn't look to be the race to back her at short enough odds. The same applies to Delta Bay, other than the odds as she is the biggest outsider of the field. She has potential but she is a keen goer and carries a heft weight.

Wetherby 7:35

Runner Jacket Trainer: Tim Easterby

Jockey: Duran Fentiman

Form: 943232

A chance if taken on Tim Easterby's SAULIRE STAR who is in good form which the recent form figures suggest and now she is going back up in trip she can finally land a win.

Tim Easterby won this race last year with a horse who then progressed through the season by landing a further three races after landing this contest, so it's interesting he's come to this race in particular for this lowly rated horse.

This race is a competitive affair but the fact this filly gets in at the bottom of the weights at 8st 4lbs (which is 6lbs lighter than her nearest horse in the weights) makes her worth a try.
