Cairnzy's sole selection on Sunday, Thedevilscoachman showed what a hard horse he is to win on. I tipped him up for a race this time last year and he let me down massively, this time around he traded 1/8 in running after travelling very well, but after the last, he found very little and the winner managed to scoot lengths clear.
Rizzel's tips
Invincible Nao 7/2 – Plumpton 3.45
Monday's racing isn't the best, which is hardly a surprise with it usually being the worst racing of the week. However, we have the Sussex National race and as usual, I'm definitely going to have a play in this race.
For the longest time, I've thought Invincible Nao was a horse who was meant to be running over 2m 4f, or maybe even shorter on a stiff track, but he proved me wrong when winning over 3m 1f at this track, with him looking like a very strong stayer. He didn't look like the winner until the last couple of furlongs when he came from a little off the pace to threaten the first two and when he hit the front, he went clear almost as if he was not tired at all. With the extra couple of furlongs he'll face today in the Sussex National, I think this trip is ideal for him and given he has only gone up a few pounds in the handicap, he could be extremely difficult to beat, as long as he avoids trouble and making mistakes.
This race won't be a walk in the park as we have the previous winner of the race with Dom Of Mary, as well as a couple of Venetia Williams horses who always have to be respected. But, I don't think it's a hugely competitive race and I'm more than happy with my selection who is totally unexposed at this type of trip, and despite being the favourite, I think he'll get even shorter at the time of the race.
