Sunday was unfortunately a losing day, with my sole tip running below expectations at Ffos Las.
I don't have any excuses for Forever Glamorous, who put in a horrid display at Ffos Las on Sunday. My selection was well-backed in the market throughout the day and eventually went off as the favourite, but I'm not entirely sure what happened.
She didn't break the best, which didn't exactly help her chances. She made up a little ground when throwing down her challenge, but looked very one-paced. I had the four-runner affair between two runners when doing my study on the race, but the eventual winner was the C Hill-trained Prowl, who won easily and traveled like the winner for the entire race.
Sassified 5/2 – Newton Abbot 2.31
There is quite a lot of racing on offer for punters on Monday, but for the most part, it's pretty dire stuff, which is your usual for a Monday at the best of times.
I've opted to go hunting at Newton Abbot for a winner on Monday, and my eye was drawn to the JP McManus-owned Sassified.
My selection looks somewhat in the hands of the handicapper at present, but unlike a lot in this field, he remains a likable and reliable sort at this sort of level. Sassified has a really good track record when running at Newton Abbot, producing three wins and three placed efforts in his previous nine visits to the track.
He was beaten soundly in his most recent outing at the track and has been given a freshen up since, but before that effort, he had some decent form to his name. He was narrowly beaten by Gorepoint, who now has an OR off 100, but does look in the hands of the handicapper now, based on his recent efforts. My selection also beat the Dr Richard Newland-trained Hill Station, who won comfortably at Stratford on his following outing of a mark of 83 before being narrowly denied last time out of a 5lb higher mark.
Your current market leader Dickens carries top weight for this contest, and despite being in great form, I thought that could prove a tough task given he only won narrowly last time out and is up a further 5lb for that victory.
