It was disappointing that Carrigeen Kampala couldn’t quite stay on for the win in the closing stages yesterday, though she certainly gave us a better run for our money than early odds of 11/1 suggested, finishing second. She’s clearly got enough about her to score in races of that nature and it likely won’t be long until she’s back in the winner’s enclosure.
Sedgefield - 16:15 |
Jaramillo |
11/1 |
Monday’s bet goes at Sedgefield, where ahead of the 16:15 contest, which is a Class 4 hurdle over a near two-and-a-half-mile trip, Jaramillo looks generously priced in the Monday-morning market.
After some relatively modest efforts on the flat, Warren Greatrex’s runner returns to hurdling, returning to the scene of his last win, and he’ll do so from 2 lbs lower in the handicap.
Return to Sedgefield to spark a revival?
This runner didn’t really get involved when last seen over timber, finishing down the field over further at Stratford, but before that, he ran several good races, including when finishing fourth from higher in the weights over this trip at Uttoxeter in June, including when finishing second (of 13) at Huntingdon in May. That form tells me that he could very easily get more heavily involved in a race of this nature than early odds of 11/1 do.
The gelding won his only previous race over course and distance, scoring with a relative amount of authority at this level back in February 2023. He won that day from a mark of 109 and is now rated 107. The horse he beat into second on that occasion has won several races since and is now rated 124.
It’s also interesting to report that Greatrex has done well with his runners when James Bowen gets in the saddle over the last year, winning with 20% of such horses, while the pair have a win/place strike rate of 38.66%. Not bad at all.
This isn’t the strongest race of its type. Holes can be picked in each and every runner in here, make no mistake about that, but Jaramillo is certainly well handicapped, and if we factor in that he’s right up there on speed ratings, odds of 11/1 become worth taking ahead of what is an open-looking contest.
Based on a £10 level-stakes example, the Nap of the Day running profit is -£130 (since switching to being published here rather than on the ‘Nap of the Day' page).
Well done credit where it’s due . I put it in a lucky 15 when I got home from work but I could nt remember who posted the tip but chucked it in anyway and got 3 out of 4 so had a decent return only got odds of 5/1 on yours though but it was good enough for me ?
You sound like Jay from the Inbetweeners pal
Thanks for your comment, always nice when it comes together like that. Glad you got on. I will continue to do my job in the best way that I can and hopefully uncover a few more decent winners before long.
Well done lad. Glad to see you have a winner after some of the shocking comments you ve received
Thanks. I appreciate the nice words. All comments, be them good, bad or utterly stupid are all just part and parcel of the internet, it’s all good. Rough with the smooth and all that. I’m doing something I love and will continue to do it in my own way and do the best that I can :)
