It was a shame to at least not get two winners yesterday, Kamsinas could have just as easily be chanced, nothing short of phenomenal he drifted out to 8/1 but a winner and three places did see us recoup a little bit back, doubling our stake.
I've probably left it a bit late but there are 4 more L15's to come this month and we'll do what we can to ensure we finish with a flourish – something most of my selections have failed to do recently.
Attacanter Racing Tips
Two B Tanned 7/2 four places – 14.30 Redcar
George Scott isn't a name seen on a daily basis but he is always worth a once over, his prefered/stable jockey Callum Shephard took a nasty fall on the AW recently and will miss the reason, he has an ideal replacement in Callum Rodriguez who has 5 wins for him from 21 rides on the grass.
This is another handicap debut which means yet more risks are attached, it also means we lose value because the bookies are extremely stingy and won't be over exposing themselves. The horse sits at the top of the market with Gemini Man seeing the early support.
Having been off the track since April, with just three runs to her name, there is little to enthuse us, she beat one rival in her first two starts before being dropped a furlong – her average SP from three starts was bigger than 100/1 and is now favourite in this, which I take as a positive. What is most in our favour is the significant ‘uppage in trippage', her sire never did anything less than 1m4f, so up to 1m2f should see a significant improvement.
Darlo Pride 9/2 – 19.00 Southwell
This looks an intriguing race, it isn't too often you get a 10 runner affair with joint 9/2 favourites and seemingly almost the entire field being given a chance by the oddsmakers. I have discounted a few rivals to warrant sticking up the current market leader Darlo Pride.
This horse used to be trained by Anthony Carson, a syndicate headed by Michael Dods (his new trainer) purchased the horse this summer after some very consistent performances on the AW, he placed twice over today's C&D this year rated 70, he's 7lbs lower today.
The couple of outings he has had for the trainer doesn't overly indicate that'll be enough to get involved but with Sam James taking over, we have to anticipate a big run, a jockey the owner group absolutely love having had some great results for them – typically with Katie Scott. The drop back down into Class 6 company is only likely to aide having been in Class 5 for his 8 previous outings.
I doubt his price gets smashed up, and he may well drift, either should be decent indicators but it may be best to wait for BOG in the morning.
Ganesha 9/1 – 18.15 Newcastle
Lady Celia is a horse I've put up at least once before, given the amount that go in after I select them, I was ready to chance her once more, she is on a very workable mark back over her optimum C&D but it is Philip Makin's Ganesha I am throwing up.
This horse carries a lot more risk having a profile which entitles him to be quickly discarded but it was on this card last year we saw him winning a Nursery rated 84. The horse doesn't seem to have enjoyed racing since then but now 12lbs lower than that success, his inclusion is just about warranted despite only three places to aim at.
I am willing to overlook the form, given a slightly better effort was seen last time when 6th at Southwell, the only jockey you want to see on board for this trainer takes back over and I am anticipating a bold showing. Last time was the first Class 5 the horse has ever contested, having mixed it in much better races – off of that we hope our timing aint too far off.
Arc Tesoro 8/1 four places – 18.45 Newcastle
With the end of the month neigh, I did mention playing it slightly safer but I am willing to risk a handicap debutant from Ivan Furtado who is a capable trainer albeit far from prolific.
The horse has struggled to beat a rival in three runs this season, his only three runs ever having been unraced as a 2-year-old. Given he has been tried here, he is a very hard sell – all hopes are pinned on the drop back to 6f suiting this gelded son of Muhaarar, a Group 1 winning sire who was best over today's trip.
Although we can't live by stats, and there is more than enough racing to dig out a tried and tested runner, I did take a good but of encouragement from Silvestre De Sousa's AW record for the trainer, 8 wins from 45 is pleasing enough, nearly 20%, which in an open race, with an extra place, is just enough to squeeze him in today.
*Advised Bet – Eachway L15*
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
