Catterick 2:45 – Bebside Banter
For a Class 5 (0-100) this race looks a decent race and you could make a case for all of the horses who have turned up, but the one I think could be still on a decent mark is Bebside Banter.
Chris Grant’s horse has accumulated a decent chase record of two wins and a place from four efforts, with his sole unplaced effort coming away from Sedgefield, which is my sole concern. However, that run which saw him out of the places came at Hexham which is a totally different type of track to Sedgefield and connections said the heavy ground was riding extremely testing, so I think this horse deserves a chance at another track and Catterick rides similar to Sedgefield with it being a sharp left-handed track.
Bebside Banter races up with the pace and if he’s not leading he will be prominent and that should suit this track which suits handy types. He beat Breeze Of Wind on his seasonal reappearance and chase debut, and that horse has since won three on the bounce before finishing as runner-up on his most recent start. Bebside Banter then won again (after his PU at Hexham) and his jumping was his best asset. Last time out he was second to a horse who was on a decent mark and he lost a shoe during the race, which definitely didn’t help him, so based on that he gets my vote.
Catterick 3:45 – Haston Clermont
Haston Clermont isn’t going to be big odds by any means, but I think he just wins this race barring any accidents on the way round.
This is Noel Williams’ first runner at the track, which is probably enough for some punters to back the horse blind. Johnathan Burke goes up to Catterick for the one ride as well, so based on that, connections must really fancy their chances and based on this horse’s recent form it’s hard to see anything else but a strong showing.
He missed out on the hat trick at Ffos Las by narrow margins last time out over 2m 7f when he bumped into a well-handicapped horse from the Tim Vaughan yard. The winner went on to on his next start and did it quite comfortably. The third, Stellar Stream, has since won the North Wales National at Bangor, so everything looks rock-solid. The return to today’s longer trip will really suit this horse as he was staying on powerfully over shorter last time out and would’ve won if he had a few more yards, so the extra furlongs can only be seen as a plus.

Not sure what happened there.
It was meant to say, in fairness both selections would have lost but for the leader to fall at the last! 😂🙈
