Lucky 15 New Featured Image

I have been asked to cover the next couple of days Lucky 15 having been off since mid-November. My nose hasn't been kept too low to the ground but hopefully my stint is short and sweet. I am going to stick with an EW bet despite value being thin on the ground with a fair few short prices about.

Attacanter Racing Tips

Cracking Gold 11/2 four places – 16.10 Southwell

This looks a cracking race to try and decipher, with so many plausible options I have decided to take a calculated risk in opting for one of the more obscure runners, albeit a market leader.

The Havana Gold 4yo only saw a race course just over a year ago, he won his first two starts, both on the AW before a neck 2nd on handicap debut rated 88 over 7 furlongs at Kempton. The horse was then tried on grass three times, including at Royal Ascot before being tucked away in August.

The long lay-off isn't ideal, nor is the patchy recent record in such a warm contest, I felt a chance was worth taking on the younger horse given he has more potential to win outright than a few others who look to be fighting for places only. The wide draw isn't a concern and should give Rossa options.

Haute Estime 8/1 four places – 14.12 Bangor-on-Dee

Patrick Wadge gets the ride for Lucinda Russell's Haute Estime who caught my eye at the prices, third in a similar race here last year behind Duke of Deception. Derek Fox gave the horse a decent ride but he hasn't been seen since taking a fall back in January.

The horse was pulled up on her next start before starting this season off without much to shout about, last seen at the end of December at Kelso over 3m2f when a distant 2nd underneath an inexperienced claimer. Today we can hope to get back to some kind of form, we are 15lbs better off with last year's 2nd who is near enough the top of the market – our price has crashed but we'll play each way.

Jus De Citron 5/1 – 13.50 Kempton

It's never ideal voluntarily taking on a short-priced Henderson favourite at Kempton, given the win prospects are greatly reduced but I did like the manner in which today's top-weight won his opening race six-weeks ago at Doncaster, sweeping aside Jordans Cross who had won previously.

This is clearly a much different test, besides the favourite two other market rivals are priced with chances but neither yard does particularly well at the track and although rather quite last year, the overall 5-18 that the Derham yard has here is hopefully enough to ensure the horse at least can fill a place to boost returns.

Risk D'argent 5/1 four places – 15.15 Bangor-on-Dee

This horse doesn't represent the most enticing of propositions but this lightly raced 9yo is more than capable of getting involved today despite only racing 3 times since the start of last year.

The Alistair Ralph team have long been respected, he's had two winners already this month and now looks to utilise Murry Dodd's 7lb claim to give his gelding every chance. Although there is enough to give apprehension, the mark of 96 is well below what the horse has shown to be capable of and at a track he doesn't seem to mind, I thought he should be looking to fill a place at least.
