I put up some short priced runners yesterday in hope at worst they'd all be placing, unfortunately for us Salisbury was abandoned leaving just 2 runners but they did at least get the job done. If getting BOG you'd have almost doubled your stake which is acceptable enough.

I have mentioned Haliphon somewhere in the write up but to find one who made so much appeal and overlook it was even without hindsight, naïve. The horse won nicely at 8/1 with my selection in behind. I suppose I should only worry if such horses aren't even on my radar.

Attacanter Racing Tips

Shaladar 8/1 four places – 13.50 Ascot

Kevin Ryan has been relatively quite since June, his horse Shaladar hasn't won for two years either but it is the one I've landed on without looking at any other runners besides the favourite.

Last year's winner of this race is on the slide at a double figure price, she beat us soundly enough and is only 2lbs worse suggesting our form line isn't the strongest but we are 10lbs better off with the 3rd and come here rated 7lbs lower which I am more than happy with.

Her 4th last time at Beverley was something of a return to form, it isn't overly relevant but the one in behind did win next time out. The fact they sent her to a stiff track also hints that it was prep for his.

The market leader is trained by Roger Teal, who has his running OK at present, he opts for a 7lb apprentice overlooking his daughter who also rides in the race, it should go well.

Gifted Angel 14/1 four places – 15.45 Haydock

Knights Templar's trainer saddled the 2nd in this race two years ago, he enters a LTO winner with a top jockey booked. Many a 3yo have won this race over the years and I was very much tempted to include it on the usual basis that a 7/2 place is better than a 16/1 loser.

I had landed on Billy No Mates at around 8/1 on Wednesday, it's reassuring that I spotted him but he has now been smashed into 10/3 and I'd personally rather take him despite very positive vibes from the market.

He's an 8yo who loves it here, any rain the track gets will aide his chances whilst coming into this rated 9lbs below a C&D win at this time last year is no bad thing. After giving Haliphon a big mention before seeing it beat my selection at 8/1 yesterday, we hope history doesn't repeat itself again.

Animato was given a quick flick over as his owner had a winner on Thursday, he is likeable enough but would be my least favoured of the four mentioned.

With two very solid options already, there really is little point in overcomplicating things but I am willing to chance one who hasn't ever won on the flat based on who her trainer is. Tom Dascombe used to boss it at this place, he's been comparatively quiet of late but I didn't mind how this horse ran last time.

Dropped out the back, he travelled well, circling the field wide on the bend, he was asked for an effort but in my view, he may have had a bit left to give and potentially was keeping his mark for this – hopefully at least. Similar hold up tactics are likely to be employed and should suit – we'll need them to given his poor looking profile, it isn't overly ideal he's also drifted as a result of Billy No Mates' support.

Dazitoo 8/1 four places – 16.55 Haydock

Dazitoo came here on debut in what seems to be a decent content, the one in behind came into the race off a win, whilst the 4th is 2-2 since. Analysing the form would be next to pointless but I am willing to take a chance on handicap debut despite showing relatively little.

Current market leader Kristal Klear comes here having escaped a penalty for winning last time. She was 0-14 previous to that, with 11 unsuccessful attempts last season. If Ed Walker isn't capable of sending one that can beat it, then why is he even bothering.

Again I am not checking over rivals but No Nay Nicki is becoming very well treated. Noisy Music's connections won for us at 9/1 on Wednesday whilst a Craig Lidster winner continues to elude us.

With so much racing, there is very little reason to take a chance but all being well the horse should be capable of getting involved. Tom Marquand is a long serving jockey for the trainer but he does also give Saffie Osborne a fair few – she's quite likely to have a couple go close from her handful at Ascot.

Grace Angel 12/1 3 places – 14.00 Haydock

Grace Angel has rarely seen a soft surface, she shoulders top weight in a competitive handicap which dampens enthusiasm.

She won at Brighton a few weeks ago before a decent enough 5th in a Racing League event. Last Summer she was a comfortable winner off 80 in a better race than this before finishing 7th at Epsom. Next time, she made all here over C&D rated 6lbs higher which surely gives her a sniff.

Over the previous couple of years the trainer had four winners from 14 runners which is impressive enough.

*Advised Bet – Eachway L15*

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
