I'M a bit down after The Masters. Not so much that Bubba won it, he was a worthy champion, but the fact Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia didn’t even make the cut!
Now we move on to the RBC Heritage this week with a few top finishers from the Masters taking part – Jordan Spieth, Matt Kuchar and Jim Furyk to name three.
The Peter Dye-created Harbour Town course, update in 2011, needs good placement off the tee as some areas on the fairway can have obstructed angles due to sharp turns and low hanging branches.
Furyk finished T14th alongside Adam Scott, Justin Rose, and Henrik Stenson, so it wasn’t a bad Masters for the 43-year -old. He doesn’t hit a long ball, which might suit this course and is quite accurate off the tee (about 70% in the stats). His GIR for 75yds to 100yds is 100%, and 100-125yds is 80% and is a former winner here (2010) also has had two seconds and three more top-10 finishes so obviously likes the course.
Defending champion Graeme McDowell has logged top-10 finishes in four of his five starts this season. He missed the cut at the Masters but so did a few other top players. He is first in strokes gained from putting and driving accuracy and GIR are around the 70% mark so is well suited for this course.
I can’t make my mind up whether to take Spieth or Kuchar. After watching Spieth in the Masters I couldn’t see a flaw but his nerves seemed to get to him a bit. Kuchar was, well Kuchar. I think the Masters has probably taken a lot out of Spieth and I’m beginning to lose patience with Kuchar (after that he’ll probably win this week) so I’ll give them a miss.
Hunter Mahan finished T26 at four over but wasn’t in sparkling form, with 74 72 74 72. He is 18th on strokes gained in putting and his driving accuracy and GIR stats are around the 65% mark. He seems to have struggled a wee bit this season but has had four top-10 finishes so another good each-way bet.
Over on the European Tour we’re off to the Malaysian Open where Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen lead the betting after their exploits at Augusta. Westwood had a great Masters finishing seventh even though he’s not had a good season so far. He looked quite solid in his four rounds at Augusta and could be on the turn.
Rafael Cabrero Bello has played well this year on the European Tour with three top-five finishes in five starts. His GIR on the European Tour is 77%, 69% on the PGA Tour, and driving accuracy is 69%. I think the Spaniard is well worth an each-way punt.

Andy Sullivan – Top 20 Finish (10/3)
Is Andy Sullivan currently in Top 5 or am I reading it wrong? :) He is doing well! My bet was only Top 20 finish and that seems home.
Lee Westwood for me looks to b coming right back to form. He is not scared to win and will be looking to secure his place in ryder cup team this September at gleneagles.

Ian Cabrero-Bello ????????? Just wondering why lol
Sorry, im presuming its cab-bello ??
Alasu57, not sure what you’re asking.
Only one round gone but Westwood is of and running I honestly believe this will b a big year for him. I have always believed he is a major winner just waiting to happen and this could be the year.
Wondering why Ian fancies Cabrera-Bello as he’s sitting on 5 over?? If its not cab-bello and someone else, I apologise !!!
Alasu57,
It is Cabrera-Bello,but he wasn’t 5 over when I did a bet on him, haha, Also check out D.Horsey, he was three over about the same time!
I do all my golfing bets at the start of the contests, just rarely get the time to put my comments on any of the threads lately.
With bets like that, maybe just as well, lol!
Mr. F, your bet on Lee Westwood at 10-1 was pure quality. He is at 4/11 now.
Rustychest, anyone with Westwood at 10s can cash out or trade on Betfair. Was my buddy Ace’s tip though.
Westwood is back and swinging the club better than ever al b having 10 pound ew on him every time he tees it up this year like I did when posting on Wednesday night. As I said I reckon this could b westys year being ryder cup and all. There’s a major out there with lee Westwoods name on it.
Mr. F, cheers to your buddy Ace :)
My Top 20 pick Andy Sullivan is currently behind Lee Westwood to win it Outright. What a step up! He was 100 something I think. Unbelievable!
Thanks for the westwood tip though got him at
6/1 had luke donald also each way at 16/1.
So unlucky but well done to kuchar.
