WITH no tournament on the European Tour this week my attention has turned to the Senior Tour.
The Senior Open Championship turns up at Carnoustie with 144 of the world’s top over-50s, including Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie and Miguel Angel Jimenez.
Frenchman Jean van de Velde makes his Senior Open debut on the course where he famously blew The Open with a seven at the last to allow Paul Lawrie to eventually win in a play-off.
This is the second time Carnoustie has hosted the Senior Open with Langer winning in 2010. It’s hard to overlook the German who has finished in the top 10 in 14 straight Major championships since 2013 but I will.
American Billy Andrade is due his first win of the season as he has six top-fives in 14 outings (eight top-15s) and has been knocking on the door with two seconds and a third. Well worth a wager.
