MY winners seem to be like buses these days, nothing for ages then two come along one after the other. Thanks to Jordan Spieth’s superb Masters win at the weekend I followed my success the previous week with an 11-1 victor.
Young Spieth didn’t show any nerves until he was walking up the 18th on Sunday when the occasion nearly overtook him.
This week the Tour heads to the Harbour Town Golf Linksfor th e RBC Heritage where Spieth will be taking part and on the Jack Nicklaus/Peter Dye designed course accuracy off the tee is paramount.
Although Spieth is the firm favourite I feel all his exertions at the weekend, both physical and mental, will take their toll this week.
So I’m going for Zach Johnson, who had a great Masters, finishing T9 with a near 79% in driving accuracy. Zach has not had a great season but has had four top-10 finishes and was second here in 2012. His GIR is over 67% and in strokes gained: tee to green he is 19th.
Ian Poulter was T6 at the weekend with his GIR nearly 82% and finished with five more GIR than any other player in the Masters. Driving accuracy was 71.43% and he played some really good golf while finishing with two rounds of 67. In March he finished T3rd in the Honda Classic but fell away over the next couple of tournaments. He has been slowly getting better and is worth an eachway bet.
Kevin Streelman has quite a good record here, in 2012 he was T17 and in 2013 T3. He also finished T12 in the Masters so is in good form. In driving accuracy he is over 69% and 70.48% in GIR which should stand him in good stead on this course.
The European Tour is over in China for the Shenzen International and it has quite a good field, including Bubba Watson.
I like the look of Kiradech Aphibanrat for this one.
The Thai has had two top-five finishes this season on the European Tour and a T6 in the Arnold Palmer last month on the PGA Tour. His GIR is over 71% which he needs with a driving accuracy around 51%. He’s got enough to win here.

Ace cheers mate did all your ante posts with smaller stakes because of paddys max stakes of £25 (to 6 places) so got Spieth and Johnson with my ante posts of Watson and Mickelson (@ 25/1 :D ) posted on a few of the old golf threads but was back in February/March. Thanks again.
Im liking Aces tips…..Raal, what you think of Z Johnson & J Spieth with Bubba & Aphibarnrat on a Combination of 4 x Dbls ??
Alasu, I was surprised Speith is playing but assume he will go for it. Bubba is the class player in China but my worry is that he is getting a massive appearance fee and may not be to bothered? Doubles are worth a go though mate.
raaljaca, back in the land of the living I believe. Fell asleep during footie after being up for 36 hours. Only reason Spieth is playing is because event organisers gave him his first pro invite so he feels he owes them one. How’s things been the last few days?
Reasonably quiet Mr F. Nice touch by Speith but wonder if turning up is all he has in mind? Think Ace is correct to avoid him.
raaljaca, Spieth has to be mentally fatigued but he’s young and can recover well and the event’s not far from Augusta and apparently quite a few of the players go down for a “Monday after The Masters” party, chill out, have a few beers and get ready for a more relaxed week. I don’t how many players win the week after a Major but it can’t be many. I’d consider Furyk – he missed the cut but anytime I was on the range at the weekend (and that was a great place to see players up close) he was there just hitting balls.
Cheers Raal, appreciate your input :)
When the wee Japanese player Matsoyama back out ?? Can’t see him in betting for this tournament
Alves, Matsuyama isn’t playing. I watched him up close on the range on Saturday and followed him round for a few holes and he was superb. Told the guys I was with he’d get a place if he kept hitting the ball so sweetly. One to watch in the next few weeks.

Looking the same as last week, started of well, but already going backwards.
Last week, z.johnson 100/1, c.hoffman 200/1, one finished well to make top ten, the other faded in to top ten, just outside top six, might as well have missed the cut apart from making things interesting.
I wonder is k aphibrant trying to throw away Shenzhen have €36 ew at 33/1 wit pp thinking of laying of even wit a 2 shot lead any help lads
Pakie, hopefully not – I’m on Ace’s tip at 40s.
If Spieth plays to his best, and Aphibarnrat doesnt fold in the morning, im in with a good shout of a nice double.
Hope we al click lads
Get in Aphibarnrat..Superb finish..C’mon Jordan, do it tonight for big bucks !!!!!!!!!!
Alasu57, a lovely 40-1 winner for Ace after tipping Spieth last week. Let’s hope he can complete a hat-trick this week.
MrF already had my treble. Tipped JB Holmes the week before Spieth….
Ace, it’s been a long week – OK good luck for four in a row.
Boom boom brilliant tipping (ace of harts )
Great tip ace!!! Come on furyk!!
Im unlucky with my double but well done to you Mr F on your Furyk bet..Hope you doubled it with Aces pick of Aphibarnrat ??
Alasu57, did ew singles and doubles but Furyk’s not won yet.
Furyk not past the winning post yet!!! About 700.1 double
Playoff!! Furyk dose not have a good record in playoffs
Can’t believe he birdied the 18 such a hard hole.
Mr fix it ace venture take a bow!! Unbelievable tipping. Guessing that double payed for Augusta!! Congratulations
Ian, just about but not quite! Have you seen the price of merchandise?
Mr F great shout with Furyk and Ace brilliant yet again winners virtually every week on this thread well done
Wato, cheers. Got the double at 943-1 – almost paid for my Masters trip. And of course the Furyk came from watching him hit ball after ball on the range for 2 days after missing the cut. Work paid off for him.
Jim fuyrk makes it a good end to Sunday, looks like a few winners this weekend on the golf well done all
Lol. You must have been doing a lot of shopping? I’ve never been to agusta. But I heard it is quiet reasonable for the food and drink. Compared to other tournaments. It is my dream to go over on day. Is it as good as people say?
Ian, food and drink is dirt cheap – lunch for 2 with beer was $14. But merchandise is expensive as it’s only sold during the tournament. I saw people spending thousands in the shops. It was good to see the course for real but Sunday lacked a bit of drama. I’ve enjoyed any Opens I’ve been to just as much and will be able to compare to St Andrews when I go there in July.
Agusta and St andrews in the same year. Not bad.. Lol. 14 bucks for lunch. U can’t beat that!! I think you got unlucky with this year at agusta if you took speith out of it would have been a great Sunday.. I tought on the 11th when he drove into the trees. He would drop a shot R 2. And set up a back 9 special. But not to be.. Hats of to speith he won it well. I don’t tink it will be his only major!!
Ian, I enjoyed Sunday but Saturday was better. Just being there was good but Spieth made it look easy. Will definitely win more Majors and let’s hope he finds a personality too. Goodnight all.
