The Asian swing of the ATP Tour is well underway in Beijing and Tokyo this week, with two ATP 250 tournaments taking place. This Friday sees Carlos Alcaraz in action, as well as the Tour’s newest champion, Juncheng Shang. We’ve broken down each of these matches and come up with some sharp tennis betting tips ahead of the day’s action.

This Friday it’s old school tennis trends and big serves where we see value. Here are the two predictions we have today:
Yunchaokete to defeat Shang @ 2/1
One of the oldest tricks in tennis is that players who aren’t used to winning trophies often bomb the next event after winning the trophy. Shang just won the Chengdu event and is now facing a fellow Chinese player in Beijing.
Yunchaokete is a pretty solid player, and while he’s not on Shang’s level, he’s worth backing here simply because of what happened last week. The conditions being somewhat slower should help him as well.
Shang probably let a bit loose after winning the trophy in Chengdu, and we think he might be coming in a bit rusty here. It’s not the most likely bet, but we think there is great value with the way the odds are set up.
We’ll see if the Chinese player struggles as expected, but backing his opponent in this one makes sense on many levels. One of those is that they have never played against each other.
Mpetshi Perricard vs Alcaraz over 20.5 games @ 5/6
We’re backing this one to be a close match for a couple of reasons. Mpetshi Perricard is a massive server and exceptionally tall. That makes him a tricky player to face, and we’re backing him to keep this match close.
Alcaraz just played at the Laver Cup, where he participated in quite a few matches. He then rushed to Beijing in time for this event, and that’s not ideal. We’ve already seen quite a few Laver Cup players struggle, as most of them lost. In fact, only Ben Shelton won his match, so Alcaraz might well be in trouble here due to the jet lag and everything else.
We think he’ll be able to win the match, but we don’t think it will be easy. Three sets are not out of the question, and even if it’s two, 20.5 isn’t the hardest line to cover, given how good of a server the French player is.
