Scotland haven't qualified for the World Cup since 1998 and start their last attempt with a tough assignment on the road in Denmark tonight.
This looks like being Steve Clarke's final campaign in the hotseat and his legacy is secure after leading the Scots to successive European Championship finals.
But the big one has remained out of reach and his side will face an uphill struggle to reach the World Cup if they lose to a dangerous Danish side tonight.
Denmark vs Scotland top betting tips
These nations were in the same group for 2022 World Cup qualifying and it was honours even, with the Danes winning 2-0 in Copenhagen before Clarke's side got their revenge by the same score at Hampden.
Scotland's form hasn't been great of late, with Greece and Iceland both winning comfortably at Hampden, and the lack of quality central defenders remains the biggest issue.
So Denmark look worthy 4/7 favourites at BoyleSports with home advantage and you can boost their odds to 6/4 by adding on over 2.5 goals.
The fouls market offers a bit of value and I was surprised to see Bet365 with odds of 10/1 on Scotland skipper Andy Robertson committing over 1.5 fouls.
That has now dropped to 8/1 but he always gets stuck in so that still looks well worth a punt at such a huge price.
Ukraine vs France
Didier Deschamps' long reign as France boss will come to an end after the 2026 World Cup and he starts his last dance tonight with their opening qualifier against Ukraine.
The 56-year-old would love to sign off by getting his hands on the trophy for a third time as player and manager, a feat nobody else has managed.
They shouldn't have too much trouble negotiating a group that also includes Iceland and Azerbaijan, with Ukraine likely to be their main rivals for top spot.
This match is being played in neutral Poland and BoyleSports make Les Bleus 2/5 favourites to start with a victory.
It's hard to see Ukraine living with Deschamps' star-studded attack and Kylian Mbappe is just 10/11 at BoyleSports for a goal. But the Real Madrid star is 4/1 for an assist at Bet365 and that could offer a bit of value.
Ukraine full-back Vitalii Mykolenko will have a tough night up against either Michael Olise, Ousame Dembele or Desire Doue so he could be worth a punt at 14/5 with BoyleSports for a card.
Italy vs Estonia
Italy have missed out on the last two World Cups and are in danger of not making it again after losing 3-0 to Italy in their Group I opener.
The Azzurri made partial amends by beating Moldova in their next qualifier but that proved to be Luciano Spalletti's final game in the hotseat.
He has been replaced by Rino Gattuso and the former AC Milan and Rangers star will be desperate to put on a show in his first game tonight against Estonia.
Italy should get the new boss bounce and BoyleSports price them at a tiny 1/14 for the win.
The Estonians have been pretty competitive so far in the group and only lost 1-0 at home to leaders Norway. So I'm going to combine an Italy win with under 3.5 goals, which pays 11/8 at BoyleSports.
Newcastle's Sandro Tonali is often a goal threat from midfield so he could be worth a speculative punt at 5/2 for anytime scorer.
Friday's Super Singles
- Andy Robertson over 1.5 fouls 8/1 Bet365
- Kylian Mbappe assist 4/1 Bet365
- Italy win and under 3.5 goals 11/8 BoyleSports
