I mentioned on Friday that i had possibly spotted my bet for July in the Swansea v Sheffield Wednesday game. I was looking through SWFC upcoming fixtures as i liked how they have been playing since the restart. I was actually targetting the away game at QPR as a possible SWFC win when i stumbled upon the corner stats from their recent games- straight away i realised it was because they had started playing 3-5-2 since the restart.
Gary Monk had been switching formations all season never settling. This 3-5-2 with Kadeem Harris and Jacob Murphy operating as wing backs has given them alot of space out wide to get crosses in.
I looked back through all of their matches in 2020 noting down the corner stats and formation they played that day and it was clear to see from 11,9 and 7 team corners from playing the 3-5-2 they were hitting more- averaging 9 team corners a game. The earlier games in the year you can see they were averaging about 4 per game.

I always have to have a main key point for a bet and this formation change is it today.
I would be amazed if they don’t play it today as they have played well these last 3 games showing much improved form since before the break. The break has clearly helped them and they now seem to have found their formation. I also want Murphy and Harris playing for me today so if either is rested i will not be taking the bet as they have both been showing good form these last 3 games.
I mentioned on Friday how their result was harsh against West brom they just lacked that clinical finishing. They had 14 shots compared to West broms 9 and 11 corners to 4. They got a deserved victory against Bristol city and they could easily have beaten Nottingham Forest at home in their 1-1 draw.
An outsider looking in might say SWFC have nothing to play for sitting in mid table but that is far from the truth they have a potential points deduction hanging over their heads so they will no doubt be giving it their all. Gary Monk has experience in this situation having kept Birmingham up after they had an EFL charge hanging over their heads and then given a 9 point deduction.
I think SWFC to have 5+corners with skybet at 10/11 is a very good bet and is very good value and as long as the formation and 2 players i mentioned start i will be taking this bet.

The obvious players to note of course are:
Willian and KDB are consistently delivering on player shots since restart.

I learning to work with a combination of keeping visual on players from watching matches and stats. As well as relative pre match value or in play. (Though risk of subs and injuries are always something to be mindful)
Based on stats, who they are playing and value etc. For eg Phil Bardsley averages over 3 tackles per game at home so 4/6 for two tackles is a very fair price and 2/1 for 3+ looks excellent value if he plays the full 90. Another thing that frustrates in this market is the difference between a block and a tackle.
