Football Bet of the Day

A lack of goals at Lecce rounded off a disappointing weekend last Sunday, but looking to bounce back this weekend, Saturday’s Football sees me head to the Swiss Super League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Lugano vs Luzern

🇨🇭 Super League

⏰ Saturday 15 February, 17:00

Two sides separated only by goals scored in the Swiss Super League table meet at the Cornaredo Stadium on Saturday night as third-placed Lugano hosts second-placed Luzern in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Mattia Croci-Torti’s hosts are the third-highest scorers in the Swiss Super League, slamming in 40 goals across their opening 23 matches, with 25 (63%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

The Bianconeri have found the back of the net in each of their 12 league outings on home soil – notching on multiple occasions in nine (75%) of them – and will look to continue their impressive goal-scoring streak at home this season against a Luzern defence that has registered just two clean sheets on their travels this campaign, shipping multiple goals in 8/11 (73%) of them.

Mario Frick’s visitors are the second-highest scorers in the Swiss top flight, slamming in 42 goals across their opening 23 matches, with 20 (48%) of them coming on their travels.

Die Leuchten have found the back of the net in all bar one of their league outings, notching on multiple occasions in 13 (57%) of them – including in 6/11 (55%) of them on the road – and will look to hit the target once again against a Lugano defence that’s kept just three clean sheets in the league all season, shipping 2+ goals in five of their last six.

Bet of the Day

Lugano’s opening 12 Swiss Super League fixtures in front of their supporters have averaged a league-high 3.50 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in eight (67%) of them – including in four of their last five – whilst 10 (83%) have seen both teams oblige.

Luzern’s opening 11 Swiss Super League contests on the road this season have averaged an eye-catching 3.64 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in eight (73%) of them, whilst nine (82%) have produced goals at both ends.

What’s more, both previous meetings between the pair this season have produced five goals, with Lugano winning 1-4 away at Luzern in December, whilst Luzern edged a five-goal thriller in their last meeting at this venue back in August, and I’m expecting another entertaining encounter between these high-scoring sides on Saturday night.
