Following a surprise lack of goals at Ibrox on Thursday’s, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the opening match of Round 30 in the Italian Serie B.

Two clubs currently positioned inside the Italian Serie B playoff places meet at the Stadio Renzo Barbera tomorrow evening as 5th-placed Palermo plays host to 3rd-placed Venezia in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Eugenio Corini’s hosts are the third-highest scorers in the Italian second-tier, slamming in 52 goals across their opening 29 matches, with 28 (54%) of them coming on their home turf. The Rosanero have found the back of the net in all bar one of their previous 12 league outings in front of their supporters – scoring on multiple occasions in each of their last six – and will look to get on the scoresheet once again at home against a Venezia defence that has recorded a solitary clean sheet across their last seven road trips, shipping multiple goals in four of their previous six.
Ex-Rangers defender Paolo Vanoli has seen his side score the second-highest amount of goals in Serie B so far this campaign, banging in 53 goals across their opening 29 matches, with 20 (38%) of them coming on their travels. The Leoni alati have found the back of the net in all bar one of their previous nine league outings on the road – scoring on multiple occasions in five of their last eight – and will look to trouble a Palermo backline that’s kept just three clean sheets across their previous 13 Serie B contests on home soil.

Palermo’s opening 14 Serie B fixtures on home soil this season are averaging 3.29 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 11 (79%) of them, including in each of their previous seven – and given the same has landed in a league-high 20/29 (69%) of Venezia’s Serie B contests, including in 14 of their last 17 – I’m hoping we see a similarly high-scoring encounter to the four goals we saw in the reverse fixture last September.
