Two nations who have made contrasting starts to their Nations League campaign meet in Neutral Poland on Friday evening as Ukraine take on Georgia in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Serhiy Rebrov’s ‘hosts’ were tipped up as potential dark horses in Euro 2024, but despite picking up four points from their three group-stage matches, were eliminated at this stage.
Since then, The Blue and Yellow have endured a tough start to their Nations League campaign, as they were beaten 1-2 at ‘home’ to Albania on MD1 despite taking the lead at the beginning of the second half before losing 3-2 in Prague against Czechia.
Willy Sagnol’s visitors were the surprise package of Euro 2024, as they made it to the knockout stages – largely due to a shock 2-0 victory over Portugal – before being knocked out in the last-16 by eventual winners Spain.
The Crusaders have made a flying start to their Nations League campaign, as they thrashed Czechia 4-1 in front of their supporters on MD1 before going to Tirana and defeating Albania 0-1 to make it two wins from two.

Ukraine’s opening two Nations League fixtures this campaign have been full of goals, with the two matches producing a combined total of eight goals, with Over 2.5 Goals banking on each.
If you look further back over the past 16 months, 12/18 (67%) of Ukraine’s matches have seen Over 2.5 Goals land, including eight of their previous 10 – and given the same has paid out in 10 of Georgia’s past 15 internationals – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be three or more goals in Poznan between these two nations on Friday evening.
