After making it successive winners late on in Almería on Saturday night, Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the French Ligue 1, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Second meets third in Ligue 1 as rivals Marseille and Monaco face off at the Stade Velodrome on Sunday evening in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Roberto De Zerbi’s hosts are the second-highest scorers in Ligue 1 this term, slamming in 27 goals across their opening 12 matches, with six (22%) of them coming across their five home encounters.
Les Phoceens have found the back of the net in all bar two of their Ligue 1 contests – notching on multiple occasions in eight (67%) of them – and will look to trouble a Monaco backline that has registered a solitary shutout across their past eight Ligue 1 outings.
Adi Hutter’s visitors have scored 21 goals across their opening 12 Ligue 1 contests this campaign, with 11 (52%) of them coming across their five road trips.
Les Monegasques have hit the target in all bar two of their Ligue 1 encounters, firing two or more goals in seven (58%) of them – including in 4/5 (80%) of their road trips – and will look to add to their goal-tally against a vulnerable looking Marseille defence that has only kept two clean sheets in the French top flight this term, shipping 16 goals.

Marseille’s opening 12 fixtures in Ligue 1 this season have averaged an eye-catching 3.58 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in nine (75%) of them – including in each of their past five – whilst eight (67%) have produced goals at both ends.
Monaco’s opening 12 Ligue 1 contests this term have averaged 2.58 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in seven of their past nine – including in each of their previous four on the road – whilst six of their last eight and seven of their previous 10 have produced goals at both ends.
What’s more, this fixture rarely fails to deliver goals, with the past 20 meetings averaging a staggering 4.1 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in an incredible 17 (85%) of them, whilst 16 (80%) featuring a minimum of three goals – with both meetings last season finishing 3-2 & 2-2 – and I’m hoping we see a similarly high-scoring encounter at the Velodrome on Sunday evening.
