Following on from last night’s winner in Ireland, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the MLS, and there’s one fixture in particular that I’ve highlighted that appeals to me for goals.

Two clubs currently outside the playoff places in the Eastern Conference table meet at the Saputo Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning, as Montréal play host to the Philadelphia Union in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Laurent Courtois’ hosts have scored 26 goals across their opening 19 fixtures in the MLS this term, with 13 (50%) of them coming across their eight home matches.
The Impact have made the net bulge in 6/8 (75%) of their league outings in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in five (63%) of them – and will look to breach a Union defence that has recorded just four shutouts in MLS this season, shipping multiple goals in 10 of their previous 13.
Jim Curtin’s visitors have scored 31 goals across their opening 19 encounters in the MLS this term, with 18 (58%) of them coming on their travels.
The Union have made the net bulge in all bar one of their opening nine road trips – scoring two or more goals in seven of their last eight – and will be confident of continuing their fine goal-scoring record away from home against a Montréal backline that’s also recorded just four clean sheets in MLS this season, shipping multiple goals in eight of their last 10.

Montréal’s opening 19 fixtures in MLS this campaign are averaging 3.53 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in 13 (68%) of them, including in 6/8 (75%) of them on home soil – and given the same has also landed in 13/19 (68%) of The Union’s MLS contests, including in six of their last eight road trips – I’m hoping we see a similarly entertaining to the four goals these two sides shared in the reverse fixture at the start of the month.
