Following on from Thursday’s winner in New York, Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head back to the MLS once again, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Minnesota United vs Chicago Fire
🇺🇸 MLS
⏰ Sunday 21 September, 01:30
Minnesota will look to potentially go top of the Western Conference table in the early hours of Sunday morning as they welcome Eastern Conference playoff hopefuls Chicago Fire to Allianz Field in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Eric Ramsay’s hosts have scored 51 goals across their opening 30 MLS encounters this campaign, with 26 (51%) coming in front of their supporters.
The Loons have failed to score in just one of their previous 14 MLS fixtures – notching on multiple occasions in nine (64%) of them – and will look to keep up their excellent goal-scoring run of form against a Chicago defence that has recorded a solitary clean sheet on their travels this term, shipping 30 goals.
Gregg Berhalter’s visitors have scored 54 goals across their opening 29 clashes in the MLS this campaign, with a league-high 33 (61%) of them coming on their travels.
The Fire have found the back of the net in all but one of their 14 away matches in the MLS this term – notching 2+ goals in 10 (71%) of them – and will look to continue their extraordinary goal-scoring record away from this season against a Minnesota defence that has recorded a single shutout across their previous 14 MLS outings.
Bet of the Day
The Loons’ previous 14 MLS contests have averaged an eye-catching 3.13 goals per game, with 12 (86%) of them seeing goals at both ends, whilst 10 (71%) have also gone Over 2.5 Goals.
The Fire’s opening 14 MLS matches on the road have averaged a ridiculous 4.50 Goals per game, with Both Teams to Score landing in 12 (86%) of them, whilst 13 (93%) of them have seen a minimum of three goals.
Given the form both of these attacks arrive in this match, I fully expect to see an entertaining encounter full of goals.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 4/5 (Bet365/Betway)
