Oxford will look to strengthen their position inside the League One playoff places as they welcome 11th-placed Northampton to the Kassam Stadium in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Des Buckingham’s hosts have scored 54 goals across their opening 33 matches in League One this term, with 29 (54%) of them coming in front of their supporters. The U’s have only failed to score at home against 3rd-placed Bolton and 4th-placed Barnsley – scoring on multiple occasions in 10 of their previous 15 – and will look to find the target once again at home against a Cobblers defence that is without a clean sheet away from home in each of their last 11 League One matches, shipping two or more in eight of their previous 10.
Jon Brady’s visitors have scored 43 goals across their opening 32 contests in the English third-tier this campaign, with 19 (44%) of them coming on their travels. The Cobblers have found the back of the net in 11/15 (73%) of their road trips – scoring on multiple occasions in five of their previous seven – and will look to trouble an Oxford defence that has kept five clean sheets at home this season, with just two of them coming across their previous 11.

Northampton’s opening 15 matches away from home in the English third-tier this campaign are averaging a league-high 3.20 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in each of their previous 10 – and given the same has landed in 11 of Oxford’s last 15 on home soil – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three goals between these two clubs tomorrow evening, with the hosts scoring at least one of them.
