Looking to return to winning ways after Nantes failed to score away at Marseille on Sunday, Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the English National League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ York City vs Altrincham
🏴 National League
⏰ Tuesday 4 March, 19:45
Second-placed York City will look to keep pace with National League leaders Barnet as they welcome seventh-placed Altrincham LNER Community Stadium tomorrow night in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Adam Hinshelwood’s hosts are the second-highest scorers in the National League this term, slamming in 66 goals across their opening 34 matches, with 42 (64%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The Minstermen have failed to score in just two of their National League contests on home soil, notching on multiple occasions in 12 (71%) of them – including in nine of their last 11 – and will be confident of breaching an Altrincham defence that has kept just four clean sheets on their travels this season, with half of those coming against teams inside the relegation zone.
Phil Parkinson’s visitors are the joint fourth-highest scorers in the National League this season, banging in 53 goals across their opening 32 matches, with 25 (47%) of them coming on their travels.
The Robins have failed to score in just two of their past 15 National League encounters on the road – notching on multiple occasions in six of their last nine – and will look to trouble a York defence that has kept just one clean sheet across their last four, and four in their past 10 league outings on home soil.
Bet of the Day
After seeing just five goals scored across their opening three National League fixtures on home soil this season, York’s next 14 have averaged an eye-catching 3.64 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 12 (86%) of those, including 10 of their previous 11.
Altrincham’s opening 16 National League contests on the road this campaign have averaged 3.19 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 12 (75%) of them, including in each of their past eight.
What’s more, goals have been a feature in the last few meetings between the sides over the past few seasons, with the previous six contests averaging an eye-catching 3.83 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing on each occasion.
- Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 17/20 (Bet365)
