After falling a Nantes goal short on Friday night, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the entertaining German Bundesliga, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Wolfsburg vs Bayer Leverkusen
🇩🇪 Bundesliga
⏰ Saturday 8 February, 14:30
Bayer Leverkusen will look to continue their pursuit of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich as they travel to the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday afternoon to take on European hopefuls Wolfsburg in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s hosts are the fourth-highest scorers in the Bundesliga this season, slamming in 43 goals across their opening 20 matches, with 21 (49%) of them coming on home soil.
The Wolves have failed to score just once in the Bundesliga this season – notching on multiple occasions in 13 (65%) of them – and will look to breach a Leverkusen backline that has kept just three clean sheets in the Bundesliga this season, with just one of those coming on their travels.
Xabi Alonso’s visitors are the second-highest scorers in the Bundesliga, slamming in 49 goals across their opening 20 contests, with 20 (41%) of them coming across their nine road trips.
Die Werkself have found the back of the net in all bar one of their league outings this term – notching on multiple occasions in an impressive 16 (80%) of them – and will be expected to add to their goal-tally away to a Wolfsburg defence whose four clean sheets in the Bundesliga this season have all come against teams positioned in 13th and below, with The Wolves shipping multiple goals in 9/12 (75%) of their clashes with the top-11.
Bet of the Day
Wolfsburg’s opening 20 Bundesliga fixtures this campaign have averaged an eye-watering 3.90 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in 16 (80%) of them – including in 13/13 (100%) against teams positioned in 12th and above – whilst 14 (70%) of them have featured at least three goals, including in 8/10 (80%) at home.
Bayer Leverkusen’s opening 20 Bundesliga fixtures this campaign have averaged an eye-catching 3.80 goals per game, with both teams obliging in a league-high 17 (85%) of them, whilst 15 (75%) have also seen Over 2.5 Goals land.
These two sides played out a seven-goal thriller in the reverse fixture back in September, and I’m happy to have a play on another high-scoring encounter between these two sides, with both teams contributing.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
