Football Bet of the Day

After making it four winners on the bounce in France on Saturday, Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Premier League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Manchester City vs Liverpool

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Premier League

⏰ Sunday 23 February, 16:30

Liverpool will look to take a giant step towards the Premier League title as they travel to The Etihad to take on Manchester City on Sunday afternoon in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Pep Guardiola’s hosts are the second-highest scorers in the Premier League, slamming in 52 goals across their opening 25 matches, with 28 (54%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

The Citizens have failed to score in just two of their Premier League clashes, notching on multiple occasions in 15 (60%) of them – including in six of their last seven – and will look to carry on their recent form in front of goal against a Liverpool defence that’s kept just three clean sheets across their previous 10 Premier League contests on the road, shipping 2+ goals in six (60%) of them.

Arne Slot’s visitors are the leading scorers in the Premier League, banging in an impressive 62 goals across their opening 26 matches, with an eye-catching 36 (58%) of them coming on their travels.

The Reds have failed to score in just one of their Premier League encounters this term, notching 2+ goals in a remarkable 23 (88%) of them – including in 23/24 (96%) of them when excluding meetings with defensively strong Nottingham Forest – and will fancy their chances coming up against a City defence that has kept just six clean sheets in the Premier League this season, with half of those coming against the bottom three.

Bet of the Day

Since the turn of the year, Manchester City’s 10 Premier League and Champions League fixtures have averaged a staggering 4.80 goals per game, with Over 3.5 Goals Remarkably landing in all 10 (100%).

Liverpool’s opening 14 Premier League fixtures on the road have averaged an eye-catching 3.71 goals per game – with Over 3.5 Goals banking in seven of their last 10 – and I’m happy to have a play on these two sides playing out a high-scoring encounter at The Etihad on Sunday.
