Bodo/Glimt make their Champions League proper debut on Wednesday night as they travel to the Czech capital to take on Slavia Prague, in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Slavia Prague secured their first Czech First League title in four years last season, as they finished a massive 16 points clear of nearest challengers Viktoria Plzen.
Jindrich Trpisovsky’s hosts have continued their fine form into this season, as they remain unbeaten after eight matches (W6-D2-L0), with their 3-1 victory at home to Karvina at the weekend seeing them leapfrog rivals, Sparta Prague, to the top of the Czech First League table.
Bodo/Glimt continued their recent dominance of Norwegian football last season, as they finished three points clear of Brann to win their second successive Eliteserien title and their fourth in five years.
Kjetil Knutsen’s hosts endured a sluggish start to the campaign for their standards, but a run of nine wins and one draw from their past 10 league matches has seen them overtake Viking, with their 7-1 thrashing of Kristiansund on Friday seeing them move two points clear of the Stavanger club with just nine rounds to play.
After reaching the Europa League semi-finals last season, Bodo will embark on their first-ever Champions League campaign on Wednesday night.

Slavia Prague’s six continental clashes at home last season averaged 3.17 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in all six (100%) of them (3-1, 2-1, 1-1, 1-2, 1-2 & 2-2) whilst five (83%) saw Over 2.5 Goals land – with that also proving to be a winning selection in each of their opening three league outings this season (2-2, 3-0 & 3-1).
Bodo/Glimt’s previous 24 encounters in Europe since the beginning of last season have averaged 3.33 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 18 (75%) of them, whilst 16 (67%) have produced goals at both ends – including in each of their last eight away from home (1-2, 3-2, 1-1, 2-1, 2-1, 3-1, 3-1 & 2-1).
Given the form both of these attacks arrive in this match, I fully expect to see an entertaining encounter full of goals.
