After a surprise lack of goals down the South Coast on Tuesday, Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me stay in the English Championship, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs separated only by goal difference in the Championship table meet at the CBS Arena on Wednesday evening as 15th-placed Coventry plays host to 16th-placed Derby in a fixture that appeals to me for goals at both ends.
Mark Robins’s hosts have scored 17 goals across their opening 13 Championship encounters this term, with 11 (65%) of them coming across their six home contests.
The Sky Blues have found the back of the net in all bar one of their league outings in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in 3/6 (50%) of them – and will be confident of breaching a Rams defence that is yet to register a clean sheet across their opening seven Championship matches on the road this campaign, shipping 13 goals.
Paul Warne’s visitors have 16 goals across their opening 13 encounters back in the Championship this season, with six (38%) of them coming on their travels.
The Rams have found the back of the net in all bar two of their league outings – only failing to score at Sunderland (1st) and Sheffield United (2nd) – and will look to trouble a Sky Blues defence that has registered just two clean sheets in the Championship this season.

Coventry’s opening six Championship fixtures in front of their supporters this campaign have averaged 3.33 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in four (67%) of them – and given the same has landed in 5/7 (71%) of Derby’s Championship contests on the road – I’m happy to have a play on these two midlands clubs finding the target in Coventry on Wednesday.
